I continue to receive a deluge of emails from Jennifer Stevens, Executive Editor, at International Living. My innumerable attempts to unsubscribe from daily emails (often, I receive 2 emails per day) and change to weekly, have gone completely ignored. I have now asked to unsubscribe totally. I am tired of being bombarded - it is a particularly agressive company which completely alienates me, I’m afraid.
Overall the magazine is ok, but very repetetive for the locations they cover, and they have gone to digital , something I didn't know when I signed up , I really wanted a physical copy to read. The customer service is absolutely non existent. They say you can ask the staff questions about the articles and get answers about other topics, however they NEVER answer you. They have facebook pages set up as well for the different locations, but they don't answer comments on those pages either, so trying to get a question answered is pointless. So in my opinion it is for casual reading but you can't really rely on what they write as truth , because they don't really cover the nitty gritty about a place.
I can’t really say how many stars I can give. My problem with all the information I receive as a subscriber at a higher level is that everything written is absurdly positive. There are no drawbacks, other sides, well-rounded articles ever. I don’t want to receive a glorious rendering of this or that new project over and over again. It about reads the same - no matter where and what it is. It is so tiresome and does not feel honest. Please give us the negatives as well so I can make a truly educated decision to buy or not to buy. Now, I need to do plenty of extra research to get all the information. The publication, the videos, interviews only offer pink shaded descriptions - not the full color scale. Do better to be believable! I’ve been on the brink of buying several times but have withdrawn last minute each time because it’s just too good to be true (even if it might be true.)!
I am long time subscriber. I enjoy their monthly magazine as I am a frequent traveler. My problem is they did a lifetime promotion, which I joined, then changed their publication to digital only. Now I never read it any more because this was a casual coffee table reading for me. I already spend enough time on computer and the last thing I want to do to relax is go on my computer again. They did this outside the refund window of my lifetime subscription. So now I am stuck with a subscription I no longer want. PS a number of 5* reviews here are obviously fake/totally irrelevant spam. What is going on with TrustPilot to allow these reviews?
I'm not really a conference going person, but I attended the fast-track Panama conference because I didn't know how to begin the process of moving to a new country. The conference was terrific - it was broken down into segments and each was fact filled without being boring, the speakers were very accessible, and one goes home with contact information for those presenters whose help might be needed for one's actual move. There are a lot of extra resources for sale - and those are tough to resist, so think about what it is you truly need and act accordingly. Not faulting the conference for this - IL is a business and businesses have to make money to survive.
