I have been a member of I/L from almost the beginning---a time when our info about the World arrived on 7-10 mimeographed pages in black and white and stapled together. This was long before I retired or attended any conferences. I told my children that when I retired I would be gone from the U.S. and looking for someplace to live overseas. A month after retirement I was in Belize and then Ecuador. At the time, Cuenca, Ecuador, was the number one place to live in the World for retirees. I've been in Cuenca for eight years now and have attended many I/L Conferences in several countries. I am now looking to southern Portugal (Algarve) or the island of Madeira (Portugal territory many miles southwest of Portugal). I am also interested in Ajijic, Mexico, located on Lake Chapala (the largest lake in Mexico). The draw for the Ajijic area is that I can drive my car and several suitcases down in a couple of days. The Ajijic area has the largest expat population in all of Mexico and, according to them, has the best cllimate in the World. Whatever I decide, I owe it all to I/L and their excellent articles from those in person and on the ground.
I wanted to rely on International Living, but they let me down several times I joined Platinum Circle which is supposed fo include a lifetime subscription to their magazine, but I only got a couple issues, and they never responded to my emails.
Excellent information and advice - esp if you are in the USA. Could use a little more diversity for subscribers in other western countries but still ranks 5 out of 5 in my opinion. Real estate reviews and opportunities through RETA are great. Lots of informed and interesting articles from different corners of the world. I’m learning so much as we ourselves look at new horizons and opportunities to embrace.
I have been a subscriber to International Living magazine for 8 years. The information has been totally invaluable for my husband and I.We are ‘baby-boomers’ and this magazine is the #1 reason we made the decision to become digital nomads. We are Australian and are currently in San Miguel De Allende in Mexico. You will find so much information in International Living to make big decisions like ours much less daunting. It’s our go-to resource for ongoing travel and destination facts, lifestyle and living costs.
I have ben a subscriber of International living for more than 8 years. Over the course of time I have attended seminars on various subjects regarding life abroad, second passports and deep dives into particular countries. I also became a RETA (an International Real Estate Investing advisory service) member as an adjunct to my other upgraded membership service. Through that affiliation I have comfortably exercised purchasing 2 different properties in Panama as well as 1 in Mexico. Every aspect of my affiliation with international Living has been top notch from the beginning.
