I recently placed a large order with J:son Sweden, essentially one dozen of nearly their entire realistic fly catalog. And the experience was exceptional from start to finish.
From my first email, J:son responded quickly and worked closely with me through every step of the process. They offered extremely competitive pricing due to the size of the order, provided detailed draft invoices, and were completely transparent about export documentation, customs duties, and U.S. import requirements.
Because of U.S. regulations regarding certain natural materials, some patterns needed to be adjusted. Rather than removing them, J:son re-tied those flies using compliant materials so the shipment would meet U.S. Fish & Wildlife standards. That level of attention to detail and willingness to adapt was impressive.
During shipping, DHL flagged the package for additional U.S Customs and Fish & Wildlife review due to the shipment value and material classification. J:son immediately stepped in, communicated directly with DHL’s Fish & Wildlife specialist, and provided a full materials specification including genus/species documentation to resolve the issue. Despite some back and forth with DHL, the shipment ultimately cleared without surprise charges or additional fees.
When the package arrived, everything was accounted for. There was one extra pack included by mistake, and when I offered to pay for it, J:son simply told me to keep it as a thank you for the order. A small gesture that speaks volumes about how they run their business.
The flies themselves are absolutely stunning and well-constructed!

The delivery was reasonably quick considering the distance it had to come but I had ordered the large size of landing net only for the medium size landing net to be delivered. The elasticated cord to the handle was also defective. Easy to see how such a mistake could happen as they are otherwise very similar in appearance, I will find a use for the little net on some of the smaller streams where larger trout are rare. Looking on the brighter side I assume someone got a larger net than they had paid for so hopefully you will get a delighted five star review from them!
Have received my coloured wing material, realistic coloured foam and real skin, ordering was straight forward, ordered on the 30/7/25 received in UK on the 7/8/25 all items as ordered, well packaged and the products are very good quality, looking forward to using. Thank you.
