Review Time
Our experience with Kewlaw was not pleasant. Our dealings with them was last year (2025) but didn’t read any reviews before we used their services unfortunately.
They were recommended by an estate agent and seemed ok when we had our first video meeting for eviction proceedings. As time went on the communication was rare and only contact was when they wanted money to be transferred into their account.
When we questioned at times on certain issues which we didn’t understand you were made to feel stupid. On one occasion we called and this person was so unhelpful with every question we asked and requested a call back he said I’ll find out every time as he couldn’t answer anything we had asked. We also wanted to talk to a Jennifer Hardy whom we initially had the meeting with but she would never come on the phone.
After few months with chasing on updates we finally got the evection order and then we were suggested to get a bailiff as process would be quicker so we agreed.
Again after no further correspondence from Kew law we called the courts directly to ask when will the bailiff remove the tenant to which the court advised that they have not received anything from the solicitor. The answer from Kew law was they had emailed but the court had no track of an email.
When chased again to get updates which was just useless every time. We then realised that we were being charged every call we made which they failed to tell us. We sure there was money left on account as we didn’t need baliff in the end but were told the account had no money left.
STAY AWAY HONESTLY AND READ REVIEWS as that was our mistake and cost us £4500 appx.
Avoid this company at all costs!!! As a “family run”business, the Kews don’t care about actually helping you, or resolving problems! They just want your money!!!They take months to actually do the work, and then charge you for contacting them for an update!! Such a backwards company! The reviews speak for themselves!!!
Use this solicitors if you are a landlord and want a expensive court case, they’re happy to delay a urgent email needed with a simple yes or no to the council about if detrimental electrical works are going to be completed. Leaving a 60 year old lady without heating in the winter. I’m sure Kew will be happy with the fees they shall charge the landlord for their mistakes. Damn right disgusting. Jennifer hardy and Keir billingly were the people we asked for support fromIn pretty sure lad bible and a lot of social media platforms will take a nice free story on how Kew law employees think it’s acceptable to delay a 60 year old woman getting help from the council
We used Kew for our first house purchase and were very impressed by the service provided. Laura and her team kept us well informed throughout the process and were very helpful in explaining things that were new to us. We couldn’t have got through the sale without the team in Colchester, would recommend! Thank you!
WELL! I wish i saw these reviews before i used these bunch of amateurs for conveyancing.I deal with legal counsel on a daily basis and i know what competent legal work looks like and i know how competent solicitors operate. Competent isnt a word i would associate with KewLaw. The partners just palm everything and i mean absolutely everything off onto what look, sound and feel like teenagers who havent got an ounce of proper or qualified legal experience between them. The Benfleet/Hadleigh office feels like a morgue. James was meant to be the lead on our case - we heard from him once but was never contactable and never replied after the first communication. everything was dealt with by unqualified people. The process dragged on and on and on, the sellers solicitors and my estate agent chasing them consistently.Legal documents with our names mis-spelled, littered with typo's and even THE WRONG ADDRESS of the house we were buying... and no not just a typo.. an address miles away! Fees kept being added but we were never told what for and had to keep questioning everything. Honestly if we weren't so forthcoming with info we would have never have got this completed. You guys should be ashamed of the practice you run and how you run it putting loads of work onto little girls who cant handle it and arent qualified to do it!
In a General Form of Judgement by Deputy District Judge Kapoor, (case 465MC389) dated 15th October 2025, judgement was ordered in favour of the Claimant, Walter Mews Ltd against the Defendant, Kew Law LLP for damages, fees and interest. In his judgment statement, following the hearing at the County Court, Judge Kapoor stated that "...in both breach of contract and professional negligence the breach [of Kew Law] has been established [by Walter Mews]..."Kew Law's own Litigation Department in the form of Jennifer Hardy represented itself in its failed defence.
BEWARE! I have asked my mother to consult the Citizens Advice Bureau concerning this. After the death of my father, she went to ask them for a quote for probate, and they said they would email it. When they emailed it, it clearly said they would take a percentage of the estate, so my mother replied, thanking them and declining. They then sent her a bill for over £300; she settled without realising that no other law firm she consulted had billed her for asking how much probate would cost. She was there less than 20 minutes, and they added to the burden of her grief. Please think carefully before walking through their front door.
I hired Kew for a divorce case but was eventually forced to terminate their services and hire replacement counsel. This failure has caused me significant extra cost and delays, and my case remains unresolved. They took a simple matter and made it unnecessarily complicated and drawn out.Their service was defined by two major flaws:Extreme Slowness: Replies to even urgent queries were consistently late, often taking multiple business days. This constant delay stalled progress and left me feeling like a low priority, multiple times I had to chase them up for a reply or to acknowledge my email evenLack of Clarity: When responses arrived, they were habitually overcomplicated, verbose, and filled with legal jargon. They failed to provide concise, plain-English explanations, adding immense stress to a routine legal process. If you value prompt, clear, and professional communication, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.
