Incredible! Had a few questions before hand and they were quick to respond. Extremely good at arranging it on WhatsApp and even provided transport. Then climbing was unreal. Would definitely book again.
We had an excellent climb! We climbed with Kris from La Finca La Campana (Xavi from KooKoo organized) - I would highly recommend working with Kris for anyone who wants a knowledgable, safe and friendly guide at El Chorro! Also La Finca La Campana is an excellent spot for climbers to stay and eat locally!
We had two guides Fran and Christina for four people doing one multipitch climbing day. We did split for two different routes according to our personal request to have other really easy route. We also asked prior to include some theory in the day as we did not have that much multipitch climbing experience, and the guides were really knowledgeable and made sure we have the needed skills up on the wall. We were impressed that they were really specific about the details and shared best practices regarding for example efficiency on the wall. They also overall knew lot about the area and the routes there. We sometimes had to dig a bit to find common terms as english was not the first language for any of us but still we managed well to understand each others. During booking process we had questions and some wishes for the upcoming trip and we got answers fast and everything was addressed well, 5/5 customer service! Overall we were really happy!
I highly recommend Kookoo climb! Xavi was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. He set me up with a guide (Carlos) who knew every crag in the Alicante region and curated the perfect experience during a very hot time of year. I couldn’t have been more happy with my experience.
The organisation prior to travel via WhatsApp was very responsive and any questions (I always have loads) were answered promptly, which I found great! The itinerary was concise and our main guide was a skilled and experienced Alpinest, as I believe was the 2nd guide who joined our team of 3 the night before the summit attempt. The only vaguely questionable points I would mention would be the following;1. Fitness Level: All 3 of us on the trip had done the UK 3 peaks in 24 hrs & Kilimanjaro, with the other 2 also having summitted Mount Toubkal and hiked to Everest Base camp. I had practiced indoor rock climbing, ran UTS and many trail ultras within the year but nothing bar actual alpine climbing or mountaineering I feel would have been sufficient preparation training for MB. - It's only my opinion, but I think this should be advised in the initial documentation, that other alpine mountains of a similar altitude be attempted/completed first.Admittedly, we did a 'warm up' mountain of Tete Blanche a couple of days before, which for me was invaluable experience using/practising with the ice axe and crampons which I had had no prior experience with. The guides were as I said, incredibly knowledgeable and skilful but feel that we weren't fully informed that our performance on the warm up mountain was being examined to see how we would fair on summit night. Therefore, there was an a somewhat 'enjoyable' pace adopted by us rather than a 'we-need-to-get-to-the-top' urgency - that we all appreciated we would need for summit night. It latterly transpired that on the early morning start, (despite stating the night before we wanted to go as one group - 3 of us and 2 guides) we would be split into two groups based on who the guides believed were capable of summiting. For me, being female, inexperienced on snowy mountains and having spoken to the organiser about a health concern, completely understand, (as I do from a health and safety aspect) - the guides' decisions are made based on their knowledge of us and expertise, which I respect. I just feel that communication prior to this decision being made could have been better for others involved, to avoid disappointment.2. Kit list: As I believe, per the kit list provided, I was prepped with a 2l water bladder thinking this would be adequate and then was told it would probably freeze so was no good and had to replace in Chamonix (loads of shops so no problem). Also that my sunglasses must be wrap-style sports sunglasses to prevent snow blindness. In addition, on summit night, my friend was concerned he wouldn't be allowed to summit as he didn't have goggles which we were unaware we needed.Having said that, the smoothness of travel, and arrangements by both the organiser and guides when on the mountains, was impeccable and couldn't fault it. The lodges were pleasant and I felt safe and looked after which was a welcome change from camping previously. Although wasn't prepared for the snoring!I'm having a timeout from snowy mountains for a bit but would definitely consider using KKC again if I went back, certainly now I have the knowledge of fitness needed and have had that initial experience behind me. A massive thank you to our main guide too for looking after me when my health played up!
It was a truly Great experience to do Mt. Blanc with Kookoo. All the process ran smoothly ! My guide Ibon was very experienced, taught a lot about mountaineering and made feel safe all the time . I highly recommend Kookoo for your climbing trip !
Xavi was great and everything on our trip went smoothly! Xavi’s knowledge of the area made it so easy to find the best climbs for all skill levels and the flexible planning ensured everyone got what they wanted out of the trip. We even managed to keep us busy on rainy days. The yoga everyday was excellent and the instructor tailored the classes to meet our needs. Overall it was a wonderful experience!
I did a week-long rock climbing trip with KooKoo in Costa Blanca, with Xavier guiding us. Before this trip, I had only done one other outdoors climbing trip in my life. Xavier and KooKoo excellently tailored the trip to my (and the rest of the group's) interests and experiences, making sure we always felt comfortable and safe, while also helping us excel and learn new skills on the rock walls. I completed the trip feeling comfortable doing lead climbing on my own, and even knowing the fundamentals of multipitch climbing. When not climbing, we were also very well taken care of, and provided with a beautiful villa to stay in, and additional experiences like morning yoga sessions.Xavier was also a very pleasant and personable guide, and made the whole experience fun.Highly recommend KooKoo!
