I purchased a High Gamma LCD screen from laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk in December 2025, to replace the TN panel in my laptop, which had poor viewing angles. I understood that replacing the screen would void my warranty, but the TN panel’s limitations made the laptop almost unusable, so I decided to proceed with the replacement based on available instructions.The screen arrived quickly, as I had opted for next-day delivery. However, when I tried to install it, I found it didn’t fit my laptop properly — the screen wouldn’t power on. The PCB on the screen was 280mm, but it should have been 260mm for compatibility with my laptop. Unfortunately, the product description didn’t include this critical size detail or advise that I should verify the size before purchasing.I reached out to customer service, who were responsive and arranged an RMA. However, the replacement screen they sent me was a standard IPS panel, not the High Gamma LCD I had originally ordered. I was later told that they don’t stock the High Gamma LCD for my laptop. If I had known this upfront, I may have looked elsewhere or reconsidered voiding my laptop warranty.Additionally, after installation, I noticed that the laptop screen bezel no longer sits flush with the replacement LCD, which was disappointing.I eventually received a refund for the price difference between the High Gamma and standard IPS panels, and the return postage was also refunded. However, I had to negotiate the refund, and no additional compensation was offered. While the customer service was helpful, the overall experience was frustrating, especially given that I had voided my warranty in anticipation of upgrading to a High Gamma LCD, only to receive a standard IPS panel.My advice to others purchasing a laptop or screen replacement is to double-check the manufacturer’s specifications for the exact LCD panel type. Some IT businesses may upgrade individual components before selling a laptop, but the screen is rarely upgraded unless clearly stated.If you’re replacing your laptop screen, ensure the replacement panel’s PCB size matches your laptop’s specifications to avoid compatibility issues like I experienced.
Updated:Very easy ordering experience. Received a well-packaged replacement screen very quickly, and it was super easy to fit. I had an issue with receiving a different screen to the one ordered. Nick rectified this by quickly sending out a replacement, which was an improvement on the one I originally ordered, allowing me to use the other one before it arrived to prevent downtime. The returns process for the other screen was also clear and straightforward. Customer service was outstanding; there was great communication throughout.
