Review Time
whenever you get two questions wrong lexia treats you like a dumbass (not directed towards people who have learning disabilities) and makes you do a shit load of problems that aren't even connected to what you're struggling with. and the logic doesn't even make sense either. they explain things so horribly wrong that when I follow their logic it's somehow wrong. not to mention that lexia used to look and sound lot cooler from a gui and audio design perspective. waste of time
This makes me want to crash out so bad that when I got 10 wrong on tone and mood, I got a power up. But when I got 5 wrong on informational text, it didn't give me a power up.
I just hope I finish power up.
It’s worth noting that my previous review was removed without explanation, so I'm sharing this again (please don’t flag this). Many users seem to have issues with this app, particularly regarding the "grammar" section. While it can be a bit stressful, it’s not entirely negative. Our instructors expect us to complete 15 units weekly, which is manageable compared to others who have to dedicate 30 minutes daily. Some users find the AI voice irritating, and they’re right; you can’t move on until it finishes speaking. POSITIVES:
Understanding the material is generally straightforward, and it's important to remember that the platform employs AI for generating questions and indicating correctness. The word study component is also quite simple, relying mostly on trial and error since a typo forces you to retype the word you attempted to spell. NEGATIVES:
The grammar lessons tend to be repetitive and illogical. One user mentioned that the grammar section incorrectly categorized "Pumpkin pie" as a verb instead of a noun. Additionally, if you get just two grammar questions wrong, you’re required to watch a video and complete a side lesson that doesn’t contribute to your unit count, which feels like a waste of time and can be quite frustrating. In conclusion, this platform is quite average.
This app is not very helpful for individuals learning English or those looking to enhance their skills. While it may teach some concepts, once you move past a unit, retention becomes difficult without additional study. Improvements are needed for the app.
The two mini games before starting the lessons were enjoyable. I completed both quickly and scored 30-40 points! The 15th level involving texting was really cool! Some levels were fun enough to make me consider giving it a higher rating, but a few were quite dull.
