Less than 1/5. I am a club player. Top 1 % at every big chess site. With pretty high rank. But at lichess 2 games on 10 I play against cheaters. Horrible anticheat. Not recommend, unless you want to end games with the feel of time lost, playing against some psychos. Like the last one.. draw ofer at move 10. "You decline? OK, now I' m gonna cheat." Horrible place to play.
Lichess didnt find one cheaters in 300 games which is unlikely. Also gave me a strike for commenting light humour... gave me a time out for stalling when I was genuinely trying to win the game.. I closed my account.
Cheating and site manipulationLichess is accepting cheaters en masse on its platform.Lichess doesn't show transparency about who is banned from the site for using cheats; no user receives an email or warning. It's clear that nobody is banned there for cheating.Mass cheating on Lichess; complaining in the user chat about using cheats results in punishment by Lichess, with a warning email.I'm outraged. I play honestly, I warn about cheaters, and yet I'm still punished.Online chess is dead; only the in-person version works today.
Lichess is the worst platform if your goal is to improve your rating or genuinely face serious competition. Too often, games feel distorted by engine use or bot behavior. Paradoxically, matches against higher-rated opponents are more straightforward than games against lower-rated accounts. On Chess.com, when I report a cheater, I receive confirmation, action is taken, and my rating points are refunded. On Lichess, despite reporting hundreds of blatant cases of cheating and bullying, there is never any response or feedback. I am done using this website and will be closing my account. If you are serious about chess, I urge you to do the same.
lichess is full of bots and many players which cheat or stall, it has no filters and feels like scam. One of the worst chess websites i have played on. Very low rating and i would not recommend it for the disorder which defines this platform
