Linkby publishers are full of click farms which will get you clicks that won't even make it into your traffic analytics - then you'll query them and they will never reply. Customer service is appealing. Only good when it comes to sell you another 3 to 4k article. Be careful and use earned media.
We've used Linkby for nearly two years and have cut the relationship short. At first, the proposition seems to be great. You get articles and only pay for the "high quality" clicks. But... You do indeed get articles published on good publications but those clicks, those are garbage. On our latest campaign, a 5000 GBP budget got us exactly 0 sales, even though we supposedly had 3000+ high quality clicks. Bounce rate, time on site,... all the metrics were horrible. More worrying is that while the budget is used up at a normal rate, the last few days of the campaign, your budget will suddenly get eaten up at a much faster rate so you end up spending the whole amount. If you're happy to pay 2500-5000$/article and not get good traffic, Linkby is for you. If you'd rather see a good ROI, stay away.
I first began using the Linkby platform as a publisher in the UK, and it was a complete game-changer. Its cost-per-click model meant that within minutes of setting articles live, we began driving revenue = no more publishing content and hoping readers actually click through to purchase before we saw revenue! It was such a motivator for myself and my whole team of writers — and the Linkby team actually made receiving new briefs a bit of fun, too! The platform is super easy to use, the briefs we received covered all sorts of brands and categories (aligning with our content strategies), monitoring revenue is simple and the Linkby staff were always incredibly helpful, friendly, and full of ideas to maximise our experience. Highly recommend working with Linkby both as a brand and from the publisher side!
I recently tried it out. I had it set for $1.75/click and no publisher picked it up for 2 months, so I offered $2 per click. They assured me the clicks from these publishers are high quality and they have a system to make sure they're not bot clicks. US weekly is the publication that chose to write an article. They sent lots of traffic earning themselves $2 per click, but the sales just didn't happen. I spent $5,000 (the minimum you have to spend) and it generated $300 in sales. Hands down the worst advertising results I've ever experienced. They said they analyzed it for bot traffic, and it was legitimate traffic. However the average time on the page was 15 seconds, my average engagement time per session is closer to 45 seconds. Much of the traffic was just 1 second or less.Seems the publisher who chose to make the post was not a good fit. There's no way to back out of it once it starts you're in for the full amount. My communication with the Linkby rep was good and he was very responsive. They do have legitimate connections to publishers to get you an article written. It simply worked out terribly for my business. Our conversion rate with other platforms that have posted articles is generally 4-10%. This conversion rate was basically .001%. Something doesn't add up. Disappointing and very hurtful for my small business.
Really poor service from Linkby and end publisher (The Evening Standard), we included a brief with photos and the Evening standard decided to use a different set of photos that didn't even correspond with our article. In addition, all the links were to one of our product pages which doesn't make sense, especially in terms on the article. Linkby aren't able to really help and blame the publisher which is such a waste as we have a terrible written Affiliate Marketing article, which makes little sense and theres nothing we can seemingly do about it. To add to our annoyance, the Evening Standard have linked to our competitor in the same article! It's like they don't even understand what their clients are trying to achieve.
