House of horros

There are apparent water stains on the ceiling in the hallway; also, in the little cupboard, there is a hole in the ceiling covered by duct tape. Living room, there again is a large volume of mould and mildew in the window area and a large volume of cobwebs. Then going upstairs, there were even more issues. Landing area, we noticed multiple cracks on the wall and ceiling. One of the three bedrooms does not have a handle outside the room; it has been broken off. The airing cupboard on the landing door handle had also come off and is stiff to open. The bathroom has a high volume of mould and mildew upstairs. The shower curtain rail is broken on the floor. The outside of the bath was damaged, and some pieces were moving away from the bath. There is a hole in the wall in the bathroom and a cracked adhesive mirror on the wall. The bathroom sink has a black substance inside and fluffs inside. The toilet is thick with a very dark brown substance (I sought advised on this and was recommended this toilet along with downstairs would likely need entirely replacing).First of the bedrooms is the room with the boiler. We cannot get the boiler on or even the gas on via the meter downstairs. This room also has a high volume of mould and mildew on the wall and window area (this is one of the windows that are due to be replaced, but the mould around it is unsafe). The windows are the same in all three rooms, covered in mould and mildew, which is unsuitable for your health - can cause asthma attacks, rashes and many other issues. The previous tenant or estate agency should have ensured these were cleaned before new tenants collected the keys. Couple more issues to address; when we were discussing the oven, be estate agency informed us that we could hook up an electric cooker, and we needed to get this fitted by a professional (which we feel this should be something that is provided as this can be costly and estate agency should provide someone to do this to ensure all the correct paperwork is in place from a health and safety aspect). When we seek advice from an electrician (who also rents out properties), we advise of the above and also to hook it up a different to what would be needed, so it would cost a lot more to get it to the standard required. After buying an electric oven, we have now had to contact the company to cancel this as it will not be usable on this property, despite being told it would be okay as no wire was provided to fit the electric hook up. We struggled to get the electricity on as it was not as simple as putting the switches on; there was a meter underneath it when we needed to click on it, but this was not straightforward, and I feel like this is something someone should have gone through with us. The boiler does not seem to have any gas getting to it; despite checking everything, still nothing. The boiler and gas need to be looked at, and the gas meter asks for a code. No idea what to do about this, but we currently have no hot water. Finally, outside the property, the front garden area is full of rubbish from previous tenants. Half the front of the house fence is fallen, making the front insecure, with a lot of overgrown greenery. Moving around the back from the front, a massive concrete slab is lifted, and it's a trip hazard or not, a massive injury waiting to happen. The fence around the back garden is wonky and wobbling (one bad storm away from falling, which could result in an injury). As previously discussed, the bolt on the gate didn't close properly, but this is the least of my worries; it is hanging off the hinges. When entering the garden, there is rubbish everywhere, including sheets of metal and other items (photo provided). A drain in the garden full of black/brown water doesn't seem to be draining full; this could also be a health and safety risk. There is no lock provided at all for the outhouse, which means we will be unable to store anything safely outside in this.Overall feeling about this property is that it is unsafe and not suitable to live in. This whole situation has caused both myself and my partner a high volume of stress and anxiety. I am shocked that these things were not checked and cleaned before moving in, especially as estate agency has an excellent reputation.
