I note that most people seem to rate this company highly on the basis of cost , an easy to use web site and friendly sales staff (as they would be). I thought the same until I had to make a claim after someone collided with me. The treatment I had from LV was appauling. The case dragged on for a year, communication was poor and their understanding of the traffic situation and road rules where the accident happened non existent. At the end of the day they ruled that the accident was a joint responsibility then proceeded to increase my premium by over £200 despite me having a 6 year NCB. This increase was way above average for someone in my circumstances and when I asked them why that was they said they could not tell me. I will never use LV again and I have given them 1 star because I can't give them 0 stars.
I have more than one insurance with this company. They are just so good. The staff are brilliant and do everything they can to help. Prices are competitive for the cover you get. Very happy customer!!

I requested written confirmation of the cancellation, only to be informed by a representative that "We don't do that - it's not part of our service." I then asked for a complaint to be filed and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes, only to be told that the team leader confirmed this is not a service they provide. I don't hold the representative responsible, as they are constrained by these frustrating, customer-unfriendly policies. It is unacceptable to be unable to cancel an auto-renewal online and to be denied written confirmation. Additionally, I have secured alternative insurance at a lower rate, which contradicts the claim that price increases are standard in the market.
Having been a customer for nearly 20 years without making a single claim, I am disheartened to see my payment nearly doubled compared to two years ago. I understand small annual increases, but I expected some recognition for my loyalty with a no-claim bonus. This treatment as a long-standing customer is quite disappointing.
