I had good support from Medibank from the date my surgery was booked and follow ups to make sure I was ready for a hospital stay. I had a total left hip replacement and the surgeon and surgery went well. I was massively supported by the hospital staff during my recovery . Medibank had great follow up with the support of a physiotherapist visits to my home for a recovery.
For 14 years, I have been with Medibank. What I value most is the sense of support and security I feel, especially when my health is at risk and I am at my most vulnerable. Knowing that I have reliable cover during difficult times gives me great peace of mind
I live near marion so joined there. But found 1 person so rude and belittling so decided to end my membership. Other staff in this branch are lovely. This woman with long blonde hair sits at first desk , gave me a lecture about my coughing , which was nothing not even a virus doctor said. And I wore a mask. But she was bloody rude telling me I shouldn't be out and spreading my germs to others. She was treating me like I had the plague.It was end of spring and again wearing a mask with an annoying cough. I have encountered her before and she's been real short with me, not welcoming at all. This woman needs a lesson in manners and customer service. Won't go through Medibank again because of her. But Medibank is a good company , pity 1 staff member left me feeling unworthy. I now forfeit my amcel chemist voucher sadly.
Hard to find the extras claim item. Required letter from my Dr which doesn't seem necessary (also I had to schedule an appointment with GP), given the small amount, my circumstances, and limited risk.
I can't really comment on the service. It was really no input from Medibank. I do it myself online. I don't really rate their health insurance. Unfortunately I really need it. I spend the price of a second hand car each year to get insurance and I really get very little benefit for my money. I claim about 15% of my premiums each year. I eould call it underperforming and over pricing. Not much to be happy about.
Everything ran smooth. I paid my out-of-pocket expenses everything else was taken care of.
I do however believe that after paying my out-of-pocket excess and having the operation that between Medicare and Medibank Private the x-rays should’ve been taken care of as well. I did not expect near $200 as a gap for x-rays when I can go to an x-ray clinic and it is all covered by Medicare. I also didn’t expect to have to pay for the crutches which were issued to me while I was in hospital. I believe we pay enough in our monthly premiums for this all to be covered when you’re paying for the second top tier in private health cover.
I was quite anxious about my upcoming surgery, but the company alleviated both my financial and emotional burdens by ensuring a smooth process with suitable coverage. I didn't need to interact with them directly, as the hospital handled everything for me. I simply paid the excess. Thank you.
Deceptive Practices - I contacted the service before my procedure and was informed that my costs would be fully covered by Medicare and the company. I wasn't made aware that the surgeon and anesthetist could opt out of the 'scheme.' The company only reimbursed $129 of my $2,600 anesthetist bill. I anticipated better coverage given the high premium I pay. I feel utterly taken advantage of. This isn't health insurance; it feels like a scam.
The service and attentiveness from the company is commendable. However, the returns on claims really require some attention. The excess charged by doctors is also a factor, as it covers the insurance they need. It's a continuous cycle. After being a member for 30 years, I sometimes regret not saving my money for hospital cover instead. It's disappointing that large companies tend to prioritize shareholders over their loyal customers, but that's the reality we face.
The staff at the Bankstown branch provided excellent assistance with my inquiries and the necessary documents I submitted. My premium was adjusted promptly. Exceptional customer service! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and keep up the fantastic work.
