WASTE OF MONEY!! I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday and requested it be delivered 3/7. Unfortunately, Milk Bar's third party delivery service (FedEx) did not deliver my cake until 3/10. Three days late! Per Milk Bar I threw out the cake, and requested support from their Customer Service. What was there response? Sorry, it was FedEx's fault the cake went bad, nothing we can do for you. Here is a 20% off coupon. Seriously!?! Pay MORE money for ANOTHER product that will spoil. WASTE OF MONEY!!

I placed this order back in November specifically to arrive on Christmas Eve, and unfortunately the package was delayed in transit and didn’t arrive until after the holiday. Because some of the items were perishable, they were no longer safe to eat by the time they arrived, which was definitely disappointing given the timing. That said, Milk Bar’s customer service was truly excellent. As soon as I reached out, they clearly advised not to consume the items, refunded the Holiday Sampler, reshipped the Birthday Cake Truffles, and even included a discount for a future order. The response felt thoughtful, responsible, and genuinely customer-focused.Shipping perishable treats during peak holiday season can be tricky, but I really appreciated how Milk Bar handled the situation once it was brought to their attention.
In the past, I held Milk Bar in high regard as an exceptional bakery in New York City. However, my recent experience has left me with a profoundly different impression. The staff at the flagship store appeared disorganized and lacking in knowledge about the bakery’s operations. The absence of a clear supervisor and the unprofessional demeanor of the assistants created an atmosphere of neglect and disinterest in the pastry industry. It is disheartening to learn that employees at Milk Bar are not aspiring pastry chefs but rather individuals who seem to have no aspiration to excel in the field. Furthermore, it appears that Christina Tosi, the renowned pastry chef, does not actively engage in the day-to-day management of the establishments that have made her a household name.Given these observations, I am compelled to consider patronizing other bakeries and pastry shops in New York City that prioritize professionalism, expertise, and a genuine commitment to the craft.
Delivery came FULLY opened - for a **food** product! Item NOT as advertised: only layers upon layers of dry cake and cheesecake without advertised, touted "goo" and frosting. Made me hate pumpkin that I normally adore. Will not try the chocolate cake for fear of the same thing happening. Customer service response totally templated, asking me for EXACT same thing (photos, details) that I already supplied to them. Complete waste of hard-earned money AND time taken to provide up-front assessment.
Order cake, truffles, pie and cookies on July 15 to be delivered on August 2 for bday. Received box on August 2 in 90 degree weather with only one little ice bag to keep 4 items cool. Frosting on cake had slid off and didn’t chance anything else to eat as it was very hot. Spent almost $160.00 on this. Called company right away with no response. Horrible company. Do not order from them, they will rip you off.
I cannot say one good thing about these terrible people. I ordered a cake to be delivered for a birthday dinner on August 1st. I received confirmation of the order and payment and come August 1st, the cake had not even been given to the shipper. If not for my tracking the order I would not have known, as they do not answer phones and do not respond to emails (I emailed the morning of August 1st to see where my cake was and now, on August 3rd, I have yet to hear back from them). I posted on instagram a complaint and others said they had the same issue with milkbarstore. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY. Not only did they not communicate, but the birthday dinner I was throwing had no cake at it, which really brought down the whole night. They should be ashamed of themselves. If I could give them negative stars I would, but one is the worst the site allows me to give them.
They emphasized the $160 build a cake experience being for TWO ppl but failed to clarify and/or also emphasize that those TWO ppl will build ONE 6 inch cake. In others words, you literally pay $160 to box your own cake, which is approximately a 25-30min experience. I paid for this experience for my friend 26th birthday and my friend said the class started 11:40am and her cake was in the fridge by 12:07pm. A complete waste of money !Although my friend got the full 30min experience, I personally missed the experience due to a train delay. I called 20min before our scheduled time ( 11:30am) to request our time be pushed back to 12pm since the train announced the delay and was told there’s nothing that could be done outside of the 15min grace period that I knew I wasn’t going to be able to make due to the delay. When I arrived, I was then informed that if I waited until 11:45am they would’ve been able to cancel the reservation and then reschedule -_-, so because I called early informing them of the delay they thought it would be better to tell me to simply make the grace period which I already informed them I couldn’t. Ultimately, I missed out on the 30min experience bc despite me asking to reschedule the reservation the representative thought I still and time to make the one I was already reserved for and lost out.I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this experience, it’s overpriced, the company have insensitive policy (everyone knows how inconsistent NYC trains can be, I left on time but arrived late due to the delay. While the delay isn’t the company fault, for $160 you would think they’ll be willing to accommodate ppl in situations like this). So I lost out on the experience but my friend still joined during our revered time as instructed by the representative and she has the cake. The cake not the experience is worth $160.
