Departed 30mins late, packed train, no AC in July, very dirty toilets. Had to kick people out of our reserved seats who looked like they wanted to stab us. Calling this the Ryanair of the rail would be an insult to Ryanair. Spend a bit more for a proper TGV. This is diabolical.
OUIGO basically operate a form of scam as illustrated by our experience. Their late running train departed from the same platform, at the same time, to the same destination as our booked service with INOUI. Difficult enough to tell the distinction between the trains if you are a foreigner - it’s the same rolling stock - but they managed to confuse 6 people in our carriage alone, including French passengers. They then proceeded to charge us all the maximum fare for a journey we had already paid for. Both OUIGO and INOUI are owned by the same company SNCF Voyageurs, which profits from this double fare. The conductor and their customer service were aggressive in their refusal to recognise the problem caused by the confusion to many passengers, despite clearly making a large amount of additional money up and down the train. Their trains are low quality, our (double) fare was expensive, and the quality of the people is very poor. As is also shown by the huge quantity of other negative reviews here, I would avoid them like the plague.
Existing rating say it all, OuiGo is a disastrous experience. You'll get all the trouble of a flight with their 30min advance boarding and tight baggage policy (mind the bagages rules that may result in denied boarding). Their well known rudeness and absolute lack of flexibility explains why there are so many security staffs and 'No insult' sign at the gate. You'll feel like cattle going to the butcher and have the uncertainty of being able to reach your destination... Not for me any more.
An English review for the foreigners. Don’t use Ouigo. First of all, there’s no food and drinks on the train. I was in a six hour ride from Paris to Nice during dinner time, with no food. (because of strikes in Paris which delayed our taxi, we couldn’t buy food and drinks beforehand) We weren’t reminded though in any e-mail that there wouldn’t be any bar. Personnel wasn’t friendly and didn’t want to answer any non-French questions. I do understand that not everyone speaks English, but they don’t even try and are unfriendly to you.
Please if anyone wants to use Ouigo stop the idea immediately please. I booked their tickets for 282€ From Barcelona to Madrid and return and at the end I got covid so I have to cancel it. I tried to call them everyday for a week but no one answered!!!! I wrote them many emails as well but they only responded one of my email and the answer does not solve anything. I don’t receive my refund nor knowing if my tickets have been canceled or not. So frustrating
I have been overcharged for a ticket which I did not book.I could not access this phantom booking and complained,Received a unsatisfactory answer 2 WEEKS later after trying countless times to access this phantom booking and on the day I got a reply, voila that booking was accessible.Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.Fuming
If I could give it 0 stars I would. Their website was not working. And when I finally managed to book my tickets for whatever reason it booked the wrong date and I only found out when I got on the line. Needless to say, they had me rebook my tickets for that day's day and I ended up paying 200 euros for the new tickets plus 70 euros for the old tickets. 270 total for an one way trip. Talk about low cost service. You are better off using another train company. Will never use again unless someone from the company directly reaches out to me.
Had to take the train from Paris to Strasbourg to reach my family as flying wasn't a possibility. I booked on the same day as I was travelling and there were plenty of trains throughout the day. When I got onto the train I was sat at a section of six with a table in the middle, and there was no room for luggage anywhere. But I thought hey, social distancing – no one is going to sit next to me so I can just leave my bag there. Imagine my surprise as the train continued to fill up...and fill up...and fill up...until every last seat was taken. I spent two hours shoulder to shoulder, playing footsies with complete strangers, in the middle of a pandemic!! I couldn't believe it, it was absolutely horrifying that not even the slightest bit of social distancing was possible. I should not have been allowed to book that ticket that day, the train should have been marked as full much earlier. And this even though there were so many other available trains that day... Disgusting.
