Review Time
The Paulmann urail system is difficult for amateurs to navigate. There are huge numbers of options and configurations and the documentation is not always obvious. The online help where you can upload a design with the components listed worked beautifully. Have ordered £3k's worth of their products now. Very happy so far!
Ordered some downlight fixtures and dimmable LED Gu10 bulbs. After less than one year of very light (no pun intended) use, one of the LEDs has gone faulty. At roughly €10 a light and well under 10% of their useful life, you'd expect better. Paulmanns response was that it was out of warranty, so tough.
If you are ordering from the UK please be aware don’t be fooled by paulmann UK The company are based in Germany all orders are sent from Germany by Fedex the timeline mentioned is 2-3 working days 5 working days is more likelyI had to delay my delivery as i wouldn’t be homeSo forget 2-3 days that may be be the case if you are resident in Germany or maybe the EUAs for the response from paulmann about my review they have completely missed the pointWhen ordering from paulmann UK i thought the item would be dispatched from within the UK meaning thete might be a chance of getting it intime for xmasDiscovering that the item was in Germany i felt deceived
What a fiasco. I first tried using the Configurator to design my simple H pattern URail system with 3 lights over the kitchen counter and 2 pendant lights over the kitchen island. I tried to use an iphone, an IPad and MacBook and later an IMac and all did not allow me to configure what I wanted. So I drew the H pattern to scale with the lights and power point and contacted customer service by email. I got a reply that they weren’t a design service and if I wanted to talk to them I would need use the Configurator. So I made a simple H on the Configurator but because it would not allow me to insert the lights I wanted (Hildor) I put in random ones just so I could talk to someone. This time I was allowed to speak to someone. Unfortunately English was not her native language and we struggled through but really got nowhere and my technical French did not allow us to progress far after 26 minutes. I also tried calling the UK +44 number right after speaking to her but somehow managed to get her back. So two days later I enlisted a French friend and after 28 minutes we were no further ahead with the lady suggesting we get an electrician. During this period I had ordered all the items that I thought I’d need as I wanted to take advantage of their Black Friday sale. In fairness to the customer service lady she did tell me what I had ordered wrong. But we still did not resolve which pieces I needed. Simply put I wanted to control the counter lights separately from the island lights all connected to one power source. I know there is a way of doing this because I’ve already had it done elsewhere using a remote control. I just wanted to order the right pieces. I wrote more emails and also had a friend come with me to the local store that sold the URail system and they couldn’t help. I also talked to an electrician and he was puzzling over it. I am amazed at how much Paulmann must be losing because of the poor Configurator and customer service unable to come up with a solution that surely is a fairly common scenario. Regrettably because I had spent nearly a week before ordering and then 2 weeks afterwards, my return period was expiring and I had to send the lights back. A real disappointment as we were looking forward to these light. The problem they told me was because the Hildor lights I had chosen were 3 step dimmed and not dimmable. I pointed out that their website actually says the Hildor are dimmable in addition to being 3 step and if they are not then they should fix the description. They didn’t respond.
I bought a very nice LED panel 60x60 Rainbow Salora. After two months working the lamp died and a strange noise came from the trafo. Paulmann accepted to replace the lamp (with the hassle to pack the 60x60 lamp again and send it back to them...). I got a brand new Rainbow panel, again to be installed on the ceiling. Worked ok for less than 2 months and died again! I hear again a clac clac clac noise when I press the switch but the lamp does not work anymore. Trying to contact the shop and Paulmann but no response anymore. This lamp has a fundamental problem and the trafo only is not to be replaced. Very bad quality.
I bought 16 x Paulmann Cole spotlight downlighters for new kitchen. Within 4 months, 4 had failed, within 9 months a further 5 failed. The LED coins produced by Paulmann appear to have extremely short lifespan, and to replace them you need to remove the light from the ceiling and rewire the light. DO NOT BUY.
Absolutely shocking. Chased an order after no shipping information and no sign of it for two weeks. Told it had been tried to deliver 3 times (no delivery note through the door).Requested a refund now three times to be told I would get it once the item was returned to sender, it's been 6 weeks now and I've finally had to resort to raising a fraud claim against them.
