As far as Japan goes, 'unlimited data' is not how we know it in Australia. If you use a certain amount of gig I believe around 5 you get throttled down to an unusable speed. It's a thing in Japan. Don't watch any streaming services without WiFi connection. Apparently it resets but that didn't help when I was stranded without maps. If this info was available upon purchase then It must have been well concealed.

We ordered a 30 day SIM card with unlimited data to be used in theUSA and gave the correct activation date. Upon arrival and inserting the sims, neither would work. I contacted the company (whjcb was hard given the time difference and being Christmas week) and initially received a response saying that we had been sent the wrong sim and they could active the one we had been given remotely or be given a refund. Then radio silence. So we then didn’t have a sim card that worked and had to spend a lot more money than we had using this company to get one in the USA. I have since contacted them multiple times with zero response. DO NOt recommend this company.
