I woke up late one morning and decided that I wanted to make macaroni and cheese for breakfast (because I’m an adult and have free will and can do that if I want to). So while running around trying to get ready for work, I turned the stove top on. It smelled funky so I figured there was something on the drip pan from a previous meal, but I didn’t think anything of it. So as I’m packing my lunch across the kitchen, my stove caught fire. I removed the pot from the burner, turned off the stove, and then grabbed the fire blanket because the flame wasn’t dying out on its own. I placed it over the burner and just as quickly as it started, it was over. Now can I say for a FACT that the fire blanket prevented my building from burning down? No. But I can say for a fact that I didn’t have to keep waiting to see if the flame would go out on its own, I didn’t have to wait and see if it would melt the back of my stove, and/or potentially catch my cabinets on fire. As I was already frazzled and running behind that morning, the fire blanket was easy enough to use and so effective that I was able to use it within 10 minutes of rolling out of bed, still half asleep. What could have been an incredibly dangerous situation turned into a joke I was making with my boss half an hour later at work (so easy to use I didn’t even bother using the fire as an excuse to call out of work. And trust me, I was looking for a reason).
I had received this fire blanket as a gift from my parents and I can only imagine the relief they experienced as they opened their texts at 7AM to find a text joking about my morning with a picture of the blanket over the stove attached. That could have very well been a very different text I sent that morning.
Maybe you buy this blanket for yourself or a loved one and it never gets used (just like an outfit or a kitchen gadget we swore we would get so much use out of and now sits in the back of a closet or cabinet somewhere, never actually being used). But MAYBE you buy it and it saves a life, a home, a pet, etc. Maybe you never need it and you get to call it a waste of money. Maybe you use it and it becomes one of the best purchases you’ve ever made. It’s better to have and not need than need and not have, right? I received this as a gift and felt so strongly about it that I actually reached out to customer support to see how I could leave a review for it. I highly recommend this item to anybody considering it (and even anybody not considering it, honestly).
I ordered a few of these as gifts for my kids for Christmas. They arrived and everything seemed fine until I started noticing I'm being charged for some subscription. I started getting emails about finishing my fire training modules?? However, when I ordered the blankets no where did it mention that I would be signing up for a subscription let alone fire training modules to be completed. There is no mention of it anywhere on their advertising or purchasing page about a subscription or this training. I logged into the account which shows no credit card on file or subscription showing but my card that I used to purchase the blankets is being charged $32.16 monthly. There is no subscription or credit card info so I can cancel the payments being withdrawn. I'm having to write to the company to ask what is up with this. I see there is another review earlier this month that is having the same issue.I agree BE WARNED!
The product arrived promptly and seems fine. However, there was no indication that I would be enrolling in a subscription that I can't cancel. This detail was absent from their marketing and purchase pages, and there's no mention of any cancelable subscription when I log into my account. I'm now reaching out to the company for clarification. Proceed with caution.
Caution: When you make a purchase from this company, you are automatically signed up for a questionable VIP program. Your email will be flooded with messages, and you will incur a monthly charge of $32 unless you spend time to find and cancel it. I usually read the fine print, but there was none provided in this case. The fire blanket did arrive on schedule and appears to be in decent condition (fortunately, we haven't had to use it yet).
I purchased their so-called 'new!' scanner for hotel rooms, which cost me $50. To my surprise, I was signed up for a 'VIP Membership' at $30 a month without my consent. While trying to understand this charge, I discovered it's a common practice they use with every order. It feels like a scam, as they rely on customers not noticing the recurring fee. I can't see any real value in a VIP membership for a product that doesn't need ongoing oversight. After being on hold for nearly an hour, I decided not to engage with the company and opted to dispute the charge with my credit card provider, who issued a refund.
The ordering was straightforward and the shipping was prompt. I can't comment on the product's quality since I haven't needed to use it yet, but it appears to be well-constructed. I purchased one for each household in the family for the holidays. The service promotes safety with their products, though they still feel a bit expensive for that purpose.
My first prepared hero blanket was a gift from a friend, and I was thrilled to have it in my kitchen, especially since fire extinguishers can be tricky to use. It sat on the counter by the stove, and I never thought I'd actually need it. Just three months ago, after having it for over two years, I accidentally preheated my oven while forgetting some plastic-wrapped trays of cookies inside. I first noticed the smell of melting plastic, then opened the oven door to find the trays ablaze! I quickly grabbed the blanket, unfolded it, and placed it over the trays. The flames went out immediately. Thanks to its quick effectiveness, I even managed to save some cookies. My kitchen will always have a Prepared Hero blanket from now on. This holiday season, I decided to buy six more for my family and friends. I’m also keeping one to take to the 1700s pioneer cabin where I volunteer. I often have a fire going in the cabin's fireplace, and the blanket will provide me with much more peace of mind!
Even though I have yet to use the fire blanket and hope to never need it, I ordered eight for my family as Christmas gifts this year. The ordering process was straightforward, and they arrived within a few days. I intended to buy them regardless, but ordering in bulk offered additional savings, plus there was a 20% discount for seniors. I'm pleased to give a gift that could ensure the safety of my children and grandchildren.
