Lack of Structure and Support

The educators are not fairly compensated, and there is a noticeable absence of routine or structure for the children. The support staff do not adequately assist the teachers, and the lack of discipline leads to frequent fights and injuries among the kids.

Disheartening Experience

After four years at this institution, I am profoundly disappointed with how my child and our family were treated by the staff and management. We decided to withdraw due to a consistent pattern of unprofessional behavior and a clear inability to support a young child appropriately. My child's teacher consistently gave me positive feedback, but I later discovered she was labeling my 5-year-old as a 'bad influence' to other parents. This kind of negative talk about a child is unprofessional and unacceptable. The owner’s behavior in the final weeks was particularly concerning, as I received constant calls during work demanding that I pick up my son due to 'emergencies' stemming from tantrums. These interruptions impacted my job performance, and there was no understanding shown. Tantrums are typical at this age, yet the staff seemed unable or unwilling to manage them. Despite paying high tuition for two children, I felt as though my child was more of an inconvenience than a student deserving care. Additionally, naps were eliminated for the children, which contributed to overstimulation. My son was frequently placed in rooms with older children, leading to him picking up inappropriate language. Instead of addressing the environment, blame was placed on him. My son was removed from the classroom due to tantrums, and the final incident raised serious concerns about staff preparedness. There were also significant safety issues; my son required medical attention after an incident involving a small bead. I also faced issues with staff hiding his water bottle and providing tap water without consent. Over time, it became clear that this daycare expected children to be compliant rather than supported as individuals. The school has changed for the worse, and I cannot recommend it to any family. Save yourself the trouble and look for a better option.

Unpleasant Experience

Our child started at this institution when it opened. Initially, things seemed fine, but we soon noticed changes in her behavior. Teachers told her that if she misbehaved, her parents would be upset, which distressed her greatly. We do not support this type of correction. Shortly after, she reported being bullied by a specific child. We reduced her attendance during the summer, and her behavior returned to normal. However, when she started pre-k, bullying began immediately. She was called names daily and came home in tears, stating she couldn’t tell us what happened. After multiple meetings with administration, it became clear they were not addressing the bullying, especially since one of the children involved was related to an administrator. The bullying intensified, and when our child was physically harmed, it was not reported to us. Despite our concerns, the administration remained unresponsive. We ultimately had to pull her from the school, as it became evident they were not taking our or our child's concerns seriously. We deeply regret not recognizing the seriousness of this situation sooner.

Wonderful Experience

I worked there for almost five years as an infant teacher, and it was the best job I've ever had. The leadership is exceptional, and all the educators are skilled at their work! Our parents become part of our community. If you're looking for a place for your children, look no further; you will love it!

Not Recommended

I cannot recommend this daycare. From my experience, the educators show minimal care or passion for their work, which is alarming for young children. Leaving my child there was stressful every day, and my daughter was visibly unhappy. There seems to be little attention to the children's emotional needs or overall well-being. For a facility charging nearly $2,000 a month, the level of care is unacceptable. Childcare should feel safe and nurturing, yet this environment felt the opposite. Save your money and seek a place where children are genuinely cared for.

Disappointing Handling of Incidents

We have been with this institution for nearly two years without previous issues. We always paid on time and trusted the staff with our son's care. Unfortunately, that trust was shattered due to how they handled repeated biting incidents. Despite knowing who was responsible, no meaningful changes were made. After our son returned from illness with a visible bite mark, the child who bit him remained in class without consequences. We received vague incident reports, and when we requested our son not be seated near the other child, we were told it would be handled, but it wasn't. Frustratingly, the proposed solution was to move our son instead. We have since explored other childcare centers with better safety practices and communication. Parents deserve transparency and protection for their children, which we did not receive.

Dysfunctional Leadership

This institution markets itself as a premium early education provider, but my experience has been far from that. While some teachers genuinely care for the children, the leadership—especially the owner—is the source of ongoing issues. She often creates miscommunication between staff and parents, leading to confusion and mistrust. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, she speaks negatively about former staff and parents who withdraw their children. This level of unprofessionalism is shocking in a childcare setting. There is a serious lack of accountability and respect. If you're seeking a nurturing environment based on integrity, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

Positive Experience at St. Johns Forest

My two children grew up in this institution and love being there. I've watched them blossom with the wonderful educators and management. They show my children kindness and love every time, which means a lot to us. I feel confident knowing my children are safe and learning valuable lessons daily. They provide the best early education and support families whenever possible.
