Luckily for me, I haven't had to deal with the life-saving aspect of the body armor yet. However, I wear the concealable everyday for work. The issue I've seen with the hook and loop that seals the soft armor flap is constantly shedding broken hooks. So every time after removing to clean the concealable carrier, I have to vacuum and reset several times. Otherwise, the small pieces of plastic will poke through the inner pad and my undershirt throughout the day.
The SLD customer service is fantastic! The coordination between their social media team and CS staff, who are actually covering the phones, is great. I ordered a 4X FRAS vest through a call with “Mike”, despite the SLD system suggesting I was closer to a 6X. When I received the vest and went to try it on, I was humbled to discover that, in fact, I should have ordered a 6X. When I highlighted the issue to the SLD’s Instagram team, they re-connected me with “Mike” within 24 hours. “Mike’s” response was “not a problem, I can help take care of that”. A return shipping label was emailed to me during our conversation and an order for the 6X FRAS vest was entered into the system’s queue. SLD staff made this easy!

All together the system does make the vest heavy, but when married to the Hyperline system, the weight disappears when you’re wearing it all day. The side straps are a little annoying because they don’t flex as much as I would like so they can wrap around my body better. The side straps are also slightly larger than regular side straps to accommodate the side of the FRAS system.
