The guilty act offered an engaging and thought-provoking exploration of how the law judges human behaviour, especially when intentions and circumstances blur the line between innocence and culpability. Framed around the fictional case of Mr Ernest Ramsay, the session cleverly invited the audience to step into the shoes of a jury, transforming what could have been a purely academic discussion into an interactive, immersive experience.Throughout the evening, Lindsay guided us through a series of real true-crime examples that illuminated the central questions: What actually constitutes a guilty act? When does an accident become an offence? And can intoxication ever excuse criminal behaviour? Her ability to translate complex legal principles into clear, relatable terms made the material accessible without ever oversimplifying it.One of the highlights was her nuanced handling of intention versus outcome.
