I've been happily playing games on Steam for over 4 years. Only solo games. Nothing multiplayer. Now Windows 7 is no longer supported so I can't buy/download/plays games anymore. A windows upgrade is not an option for me and their suggestion of doing with Linux is too confusing for me to figure out. I've requested refunds then on the games I can no longer play and have been denied. Very unfair practice to stop allowing me to play the games I have purchased.
I'm purchasing games on the Steam store, and the downloads are very intermittent. I have a 1Gbps symmetrical connection, a current-gen system, and I'm also a senior technical expert for a telecomm company, but Steam tells me that the issue is not on their end, but it's my network. I have no such issues with Riot, Epic, or general downloads from any server. I have recreated the issue on 3 systems, 3 networks, and 2 separate accounts, yet Steam insists it's on my end.
I accidentally made an incorrect purchase on my account and contacted Steam twice to resolve the issue. It took a total of two days to receive a response. I was told the purchase could not be refunded if the in-game credits had been consumed—however, they were not used in any way.
I followed up a second time specifically to confirm that the credits had not been consumed, yet I received the same generic response: “In-game item purchases are not refundable if any items in the purchase have been consumed, modified, or transferred.”
Due to the lack of meaningful review of the case or support for an obvious accidental purchase, I will no longer be making purchases through this store or with this company.
I would strongly suggest that if reading this, care at all about how a company treats its customers, you consider doing the same.
Easily the best consumer-friendly business for pc games, they accept game refunds no questions asked as long as you bought it less than 2 weeks ago or have played for under 2 hours which I think is more then fair, especially since it feels like you have to go through so many hoops to try and negotiate a refund out of a similar competitor like epic games. Steam singlehandedly brought gaming on linux to life and I honestly love them for that. Can't speak for the customer support since I've never actually needed it. 5 stars from me
went to them.i good faith after being scammed by a seller doing a switch a bait scam, reportes the seller and company to them, not wanting money back but expected them to atleast delete their scam accounts and put them out of buisness but nah they rather let the scammers keep going, am that pissed ive deleted my accounts with them, absolute joke
I purchased an adult-content game some time ago, and now a new policy has been implemented that demands a credit card, excluding any other verification options. I've never had a credit card and don't foresee getting one easily. I requested a refund of just £1.27 for a game I can no longer access, but my request was denied. This feels unjust to me; I paid for this game and now find myself unable to use it.
Unacceptable customer support experience. My account was compromised, resulting in purchases totaling around €80 from my wallet. Instead of acknowledging the severity of the situation, where my two-factor verification was bypassed, I was refused a refund because the thieves had played for over two hours. My advice to everyone: avoid adding funds to your wallet, as you could lose it all if stolen. Meanwhile, the individuals I reported continue to enjoy the products bought with my stolen funds.
I am very dissatisfied with the support team. I faced a technical issue where a win in a Low Priority match was not recorded, preventing me from fulfilling my penalty. I reached out to support with evidence. The representative clearly stated: "We have your report and will submit this information as a bug. Unfortunately, we do not modify the number of games required". How can I resolve the penalty if the system is malfunctioning and support declines to assist manually, even after acknowledging the issue? This shows a complete lack of accountability. They closed my ticket without offering any resolution.
