Disgraceful. I am a woman living by myself. I made the mistake of going with the first crowd whose ad popped up when I googled 'plumber Dublin 14' and found these cowboys. I was told on the phone it would cost me 120e for a plumber to come out (he said "it's the same everywhere love, we're actually cheaper than the norm!"), do up to 1 hour of work, and that 160e was to cover up to 25e costs of parts (which I was assured they keep in the van). I though this sounded like a good deal.

THe plumber arrived, after the given time-window, clearly I was the last person on his rota and he was wanting to get home that eve. He rushed a diagnosis of the problem (which was later found out by a different plumber was WRONG) and advised I'd need to change 'the whole multikwik' That's when he said he "didn't keep any parts" in his van (!) and they'd need to send out an outline of further works to be done, as it'd need another visit (and more money). He was there all of 10 mins if even, incorrectly diagnosed the issue, then handed me his card-payment machine to pay the 60e balance. I am a woman living alone and felt his manner was very aggressive and surly. I was frightened and paid the money. I've since got someone else to replace the multikwik (took him less than 30 mins, and he had a ready supply in his van; but it turns out it wasn't the issue at all!)

I wish I'd researched further, as it turns out, Stillorgan Gas are actually known for being cowboys who take advantage of women living alone. I've since had better experiences with Rathfarnham based plumbers (for boiler service) and also have been told (by another lady living alone) that the Brereton Brothers (?)are very good, but they had a waiting list (there's your other red flag - Stillorgan Gas had no waiting list for their e160 callout).

To top it all off, they've not sent on their that the plumber said he'd they would, of an outline of what they'd need to do to my toilet and how much it would cost, which I was told would be with be 'next week'. No sign whatsoever of that. THey've emailed me an automated email to write a review though! Hilarious)

Completely ineffectual, badly run company that takes advantage of vulnerable customers. Do your research so that you don't end up in my situation.

Very good experience overall

Very good experience overall. Very polite and friendly service person. Only negative is that I had to phone in to check that he was coming that day. I made the appointment many months previously but would have appreciated a call to confirm.

The issue has not been solved

The water pressure issue has been resolved. However, the issue with the boiler automatically turning on and off in auto mode has not been resolved yet, and I am still waiting for the company’s solution. In addition, when the engineer was at my home, he was frequently on the phone, apparently dealing with another customer’s issue, which affected the focus and time spent on my service.
