Once lovely, now rubbish

Unfortunately I'm here to give my one star review and say that I will never be buying again. I am a regular customer at the counter in Sainsbury's in Huddersfield. Sushi gourmet is usually my little treat and I used to get a spicy tuna crunch roll. it's usually fresh tasting and delicious. Today it was hard rice, less sushi than usual with a price increase and the crunchy onions on my spicy tuna roll were soft and soggy. The tuna was not in the maki roll like it usually is, it was just avocado and cucumber with some minced tuna piled on top with the soggy onions. I can tell this is because they are making large amounts to keep so they can add the more perishable foods later (the tuna). It's basically just your poor quality supermarket sushi with hard rice and watery fish now but for the same price as a sushi restaurant. Well done for making your formerly lovely sushi crap and mediocre. Avoid it (unless you like hard rice and soggy onions and flavourless fish). To sushi gourmet, I have read other recent reviews of customers saying the same so please don't pretend I just got a rubbish batch. It's obviously new policy and if your that intent on going out of business..you know, go for it.

Really awful. Hard rice made it inedible and even if it was ok to eat it was a pathetic portion which was disguised by the label. Avoid

Much like another review here, thought tuna crunch rolls. Didn’t even eat them straight away. Walked 30 mins home on a hot day. Tina crunch rolls frozen absolutely rock solid.“ Sushi Gourmet offers you a concept of delicious Japanese food nationally. Our products are made from scratch using fresh produce in each store.”Made fresh using frozen produce it seems. Which I understand for the fish. What I don’t understand is frozen vegetables and putting it out for sale before it’s fully defrosted

I have been buying sushi from Sushigourmet for at least 7 years. It was always fresh and tasty. Therefore my last experience left me very disappointed. We have purchased Spicy Tuna Crunch Rolls from large Sainsbury's in Kingston. It took only one bite to find out, these were completely frozen on the inside (cucumber was solid). It just made me spit my food out and I'm not sure I will venture buying sushi from Sushigourmet again, unless it is prepared in front of me.

Less product for more money!

I’ve been buying this sushi from Sainsbury’s for a good while now. Today my partner picked up my favourite for me whilst he was out and I was shocked to see that the price has gone up yet the pieces are half the size!! I can understand raising prices but reducing quantity at the same time? I’ll be going elsewhere in future.
