Review Time
Had an incredible experience with such a lovely time. I was well looked after and they did everything to make sure I was comfortable. I had a smile on my face from start to finish and shout out to Stephan for making the photo selection even more fun! I have and will continue to recommend 💕💕
Yesterday I was invited to Broadway studios for a wonderful photo shoot. My make up artist Chelsea, made me feel really comfortable, safe and heard! She did an amazing job on my hair with curlers giving me a classic 1940s style look which I absolutely loved. The photographer was also incredibly respectful and patient with me and my little dog. On top of that the reception staff were an absolute hoot and happy to chat! thank you x
Predatory company but may not be complete con artists. People ought to report these calls to the Information Commissioners Office. I have the same story as most of the other 1 star reviews, as far as I can understand I think their process is as follows: Pre call: - Convince pre-victim to provide contact details. Probably everyone in their FaceBook friends list that has a mobile number. Predator Call: - New victim identified. Name and phone number of victim. Full name of pre-victim used as 1st bait- 2nd bait "Congratulations you have won a prize". - 3rd bait legitimate sounding name of company. - 4th bait (only when challenged) "it might be too good to be true if it were more than five photos, but it's not". - 1st rope "take a look at our website, which package are you interested in" (get them thinking about reward) - 2nd rope "you can call the help desk on our website and ask for my name and I'll pick up" makes it seem like it's not a scam. - 3rd rope "what dates can you do?" - 1st hook "great I can book you in, all you need to do is provide £75 booking cover in case you don't turn up". This part is key based upon the reviews here. You'll turn up and BEFORE anything happens, they'll take names and numbers of new victims. If you refuse, you lose your £75 cover charge and opportunity at their photography service. - 2nd hook, photos are low quality and the good photo quality costs are eye wateringly expensive. - 3rd hook, Staff are friendly and trying to do a good job. A sad but true fact, photographers are a dime a dozen. There's a surplus of workers in London with every university in the world pumping out hundreds of new professional photographers every year. Most of the people in this company are probably honest hard working people which pushes victims away from the idea that this company is predatory. However, the directors of this company will be profiting from this (or at least fighting of their creditors for a little bit longer whilst the legitimate arm of their business struggles to gain traction again) and they will be the ones segmenting their departments so their "employees" do not realise what's going on. I imagine most of them are either paid commission only or barely minimum wage. Companies I have come across in the past employing similar tactics tend to operate a churning group of interns. Benefits to Broadway Studios? Firstly: They may be able to charge you for their overpriced services with minimal overheads. Secondly: Much like other pyramid schemes, for every victim that comes through their door they multiply their reach by 100, maybe even 1000 contacts. If they only have a 1% conversion rate, then this scam will be incredibly lucrative with every person either losing their £75 cover charge or multiplying their reach by 100 to 1000 people.Broadway Studios, or more precisely: Guerlaine McClleland, I do believe this completely and truly: You are currently operating predatory tactics. I hope that with my review and others like it, at least one person will not fall for your tactics. I hope that at least one of your employees realises what you are doing and is able to leave for more gainful employment. I imagine the pandemic hit your business hard and you're highly leveraged which could be why your are doing this. However, struggling does not excuse you from being a predator.
If you are offered a "free" photoshoot, please avoid it! You pay a £25 deposit, which they say will be refunded, yet it was never refunded. The service is NOT free - you are given a discount off a package (cheapest if over £300 for 10 photos). I was very excited to visit the studios for the free experience to feel pressured and almost gaslit into buying a package - which they take you to a separate building for, and the atmosphere felt off - and then give you a chance to "enter a competition" by referring 100 people downloading straight from your contact list, which I have since have had to warn. This is very disappointing and inconsiderate of people's time and money, which they may not be able to afford. Out of discomfort and further pressure, I gave a "good" review...from reading several reviews, others have had similar, if not the same, experience.
A friend recommended me for a shoot at the broadway studios so I decided to go along for a work promo shoot. I was greeted by the friendly reception staff, who explained the day to me and offered refreshments. Then I received a facial before heading down for the shoot. The photographer was excellent and made me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout. The photos themselves are excellent (if a little expensive). Would definitely come back.
