Popped in today in NorwichWow what can I say. What a lovely place, a lovely choice of pastries, staff very warm and welcoming, was served by Louise, nothing was too much trouble. We had the croissants. They were lovely, buttery and not too flaky. We took a couple of the sausage rolls home with us and they were absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, tasty and not too much pastry . When go back into Norwich, we will be definitely heading back in there.
Have been visiting the Cornish Bakery in Lymington Hampshire for a long time now where all their pastries and food is first class. Since Sarah the manageress joined the company the whole ambiance and cleanliness has improved ten fold which is a big improvement. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Often use Cornish Bakery cafes while travelling around the UK in my campervan. Recently [15th Sept] while touring Devon stopped off at Totnes Cornish Bakery for afternoon tea. Also bought a pasty to take away for later.....unfortunately on leaving left it in my bag under the table and forgot about it. While waiting for the Dartmouth bus some distance away a chap from your shop [sorry i didn't get your name] amazingly appeared with my bag & the all important pasty.....that's service! Please thank Charlotte & staff for tracking me down and going above the call of duty. It was my second visit of the day as i also called in during the morning....your pasties really are that good. After someone said they are a lovely business with great food I went to check them out only to find out that after I tried to pay they refuse cash. Told them I got the right change. Still a big no so left everything on the counter and told them why I was leaving and left. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO ANYWHERE NEAR THEM
Visited Bourton on Water today 2/8. My partner waited outside with our newborn while I negotiated our order, unsure at this stage if we would eat in or take out, it got a little busy all of a sudden, but the friendly staff member remained focused on my order and advised that they had room to seat us inside as there was more available seating to the back, which was well received. After settling up I went out and informed my partner that we were welcome to sit inside with the pram, so she comes in and I wait for the coffees; so far so good. Whilst seated we were approached by a female member of the team who without hesitation proceeded to tell us we could not eat in as we had take away cups and bags with our food, I explained what had happened at the till, she demanded to know if I had paid extra to dine in, I of course didn’t know if the clerk charged me at the till for the pleasure, so I offered to add to a tip jar if he hadn’t, this was not acceptable to her, after I asked her if she’d like us to leave she said yes if it became busy we would have to go. I figured I would sense check myself on the way out, and there was no signage or other indication such a rule existed. I’m no expert in customer service but I wouldn’t expect this type of interaction is acceptable in any hospitality setting. We were made to feel really uncomfortable while we rushed our lunch to get out of there. The young chaps on the counter were helpful though, I hope their summer job isn’t too toxic!
