I have bought aikido equipment and attire from Tozando for many years - it's a beautiful shop in Kyoto - and have enjoyed those products. However, I recently tried to order cloth and leather tabi to be shipped to Australia. I followed the instructions to measure my footlength for sizing but the tabi arrived and are too short and cannot close (the measurement pertains to the outside of the tabi, not the size of the foot). I have tried writing to them several times both through their internal site review and through their email and have had no response at all. These are expensive items (approx 80USD) and they have a responsibility to advertise the sizing properly and to respond to customer concerns. I want to return them (as new) and receive the right size for training with an injured foot, but they are not answering.

Poor instructions for sizing and poor international customer service

I ordered an AG500 Dogi from Tozando and after 2 months I still waiting for delivery

I ordered an AG500 Dogi from Tozando. It was supposed to arrive by the 24th of last month. Today, nearly two months later, I still haven't received it—and no confirmed delivery date has been given. All I hear are vague comments like "end of the month."This is unacceptable from a company with such heritage and reputation. I feel completely ignored and disrespected. I cannot recommend Tozando at this point.

Don’t buy Tozando

Don’t buy Tozando. They are poor quality. Purchased a top of the line Minisoka. Poorly balanced with a saya that scapes. Not worth $1300 usd

Great experience!

I've only had great experience with Tozando so far, my orders were taken care of with utmost dedication with humans going really deep into the matters of customization to make sure everything will be to my satisfaction, communication was the friendliest and most respectful I have ever experienced with an online shop (guess that has to do with the saying we have here in Germany: "The way you scream into the forest it will echo back to you"), the wooden Weapons for Aikido & Kendo I received were of great quality. When a little mistake with a Font-Type happened they instantly apologized and granted me a discount code. Yes there are import fees but it's not like Tozando is trying to hide it, they clearly state that in their shipping policy section, so people who are able to read have a clear advantage. In total I would definitely recommend the store, as it is home to such a great variety of finely selected high quality and beautiful japanese martial arts equipment and has all the points I mentioned from my personal experience above. Looking forward to doing business in the future for my Aikido & Kendo Journey.

WORST custom service on the market

First and last time i will shop at Tozando. I purchased a 192 euro Men and the transport company UPS asked me to pay 212 euros extra for the import and "free shipping" for a total amout of 400 euros for the "192 euros with free shipping Men". Tozando told me they cant do anything and its my resposability to fix the taxes. UPS (trasport company) recognizes there is something wrong but the never call me back neither answer my phone. I had to call them 13 times to talk to them once. My order is stocked in there for one month. Tozando custom service just offers me to return to Japan paying myself the trasport.UPS, the trasport company of Tozando is awful and Tozando is very negligent about that. I do not recomend to buy here, there are much more reliable online kendo shops. I will never shop again in Tozando.

Worst customer support ,and ive had nothing but trouble with them

Ive ordered from them 2 times ,Both time 2 to 3 months before i needed things to get them on time,They told me both times a time period in which i would recieve things,1st was 2 weeks ..it took 8 weeks and was late,2nd time i ordered they said 5 to 6 weeks i ordered 3 months before i needed item...i ordered it 9/1/14 its 1/4/15 and i still have not received it .Worst customer service ever all they did was lie to me and tell me it was finished and would be sent out weeks ago.They told me it was sent out 12/12/14 the tracking # they gave me didnt work and i still have not received the item,worst experience ever with a company ,Never again Tozando is the worst!

All Your Budō Needs!

This shop has the widest selection of Martial Arts and Dojo supplies I have seen online. They carry everything from equipment and apparel to decorations. Need an iaido sword? There is a large selection - or customise your own. Want that perfect aikido gi or kyudo hakama? How about a jinbaori? It's all there! Additionally, the staff provide excellent customer service: even if they are unable to find what you need, they will put in whatever effort is necessary trying to get it for you. From off-the-shelf items to custom goods, Tozando is the place I would recommend.
