Review Time
My account was terminated after 5 or 6 posts, nothing of an adult or obscene nature. Tumblr is filled with revolting content which always gets through no matter how you try and filter your timeline. Sexually explicit material with a heavy nod towards the obscene is okay, yet a blog about nature is deemed unsuitable.Contacting Tumblr support achieves nothing. Many people I know have also suffered terminated accounts in which they have put a lot of personal effort into yet the low-effort filth remains.
My account was closed. Why because it said I was not following the guidelines. That I was posting unsuited material. These were posting that were already posted, I did not originally post these. If they were not allowed why were they on there? Should they be reviewed before Tumblr approve them before they are allowed on the site? Again I did not originally post so why should I pay for your mistake?

The owner of tumblr has gone on record to say he doesn’t care if people are injured or killed by strobing advertisements that are allowed on tumblr and that override filters. If you have epilepsy or another photosensitive disorder, his solution is for YOU to pay for ad-free. Seriously. There’s also been a really intense campaign recently of targeted harassment against transgender women, including mass flagging of completely SFW selfies and text posts that tumblr ““reviews”” and affirms that they should be marked as mature content. A suicide note, transphobic hate speech, and graphic pornography have all been shoved in my and many other users’ faces by the “blaze” feature, which lines tumblr’s pockets. There is zero transparency with staff, who will actively lie to the userbase that blazed posts are moderated by real humans—which would actually be so much worse if it were true, as it would mean a real human saw a suicide note or a wall of text advocating for transgender genocide and thought “yeah, let’s advertise this to random users with no ability to filter it.” The marketing team is extremely unprofessional to say the least and will take an attitude with users and guilt trip them. These are real employees of tumblr, attempting to make users feel guilty for not thinking their jokes are funny. Dead serious. This site is doing its absolute best to crash and burn. I’m not sticking around for the end.

They have removed several accessibility features, consistently flag and reflag transfem's posts as mature, are removing everything unique about the site and giving it a worse ui (not a bit, the desktop dashboard literally clips through itself), and are not even a little receptive to user feedback. I've made a backup of my blog and am primarily moving to dreamwidth now.

theres a lot going on with tumblr right now. theyre changing a lot of the layouts to be more like twitter, and made tumblr live a thing. no one uses or likes these features, but many have already complained about it. my gripe is with the false flagging of photos of trans women. ive seen normal, SFW selfies of MTF trans folks be flagged as NSFW, but ive had VERY suggestive pics of cis women BLAZED TO ME. as in, staff approved of this being put on my dash. i dont have anything wrong with women wearing revealing clothes, but i cant help but see a disgusting double standard here. not only that, but tags related to the trans experience (such as 'crossdress') are being flagged as NSFW. for a website that claims to be queer friendly, they really dont care for us trans folks. its really sad, as ive discovered myself and my community thru this app. and i know im not the only one. this is not a queer friendly space, until ALL queer people are included.
