Long-time user disappointed – false warning damaged my reputation

I’ve been using ESET for years and even recommended it to clients. I always considered it a serious and trustworthy Slovak brand. That’s why I was shocked when ESET suddenly flagged my legitimate company website as potentially dangerous – without any warning or explanation.As a professional web developer specializing in malware removal, I can guarantee there was no malicious code on the site. ESET later admitted the issue wasn’t with my domain itself, but rather with the shared IP address, which hosts over 1,000 websites. Because some suspicious domains existed on the same shared hosting server, ESET blocked the entire IP – including my clean business website. No notification. No evidence.The block was only lifted after I personally submitted a request. There was no prior alert, no explanation until I pushed for one, and when I asked for an apology, I was told the company doesn’t issue apologies – because in their view, no mistake was made.Interestingly, not a single flagged file was actually on my website – the whole issue was based on an assumption due to shared infrastructure. So if you’re on shared hosting, be aware: your site can be blacklisted with no fault of your own.I trusted the ESET brand. After this experience, I will seriously reconsider recommending it to anyone.

Forced to accept AUTOPAY

During the purchasing process ESET forces the customer to accept autopayment! If the customer does not want this they must log into their account and cancel it.

Renewal was simple.

Renewal was simple. ESET sent a renewal reminder within 30 days of the due date. This gave me time to evaluate options and still pay on time. ESET did not overlap the contracts, so I did not pay double for certain days. Instead, ESET began the new contract on the day following the expiration of the existing contract. Service and payment were seamless.

ESET disturbs and blocks 90% of my daily audio and video interactions and often is not possible to turn off - I have to leave and come back and close windows to be able to participate in video conferences. Not easy to use.
