I am really disappointed in WGU. It looked like a good opportunity when I initially researched it but once I started I realized that was not the case. While you can move at your own pace, the mentors do not adequately adjust so that you do not have wait periods, at least for teaching. Furthermore, the evaluators who evaluate your papers provide terrible and unhelpful feedback. It seems like they do not even read your assignments. Most of the instructors are equally unhelpful when you reach out for help. I’m nearly done with the degree and I have had one instructor that has been helpful. I would not recommend unless WGU makes some serious adjustments in the way things are done. P

Appreciated the flexibility in the study schedule

I truly appreciated the flexibility offered. I could study at my own pace without any pressure. The mentors were supportive and frequently checked in. The self-paced format significantly reduced my stress levels. Overall, it's a great choice for those managing both work and education.

Disappointing Experience as a Senior Student

As a current Senior Citizen student, I find myself frustrated with the service, as I hold them accountable for their commitments. This competency-based institution has some of the least competent instructors I've ever come across!

Warning, research before committing.

The program started ok. I am very independent and can complete work on my own. The school's setup is designed to save money and complete coursework efficiently. One issue with this institution is that it is very compartmentalized. There is no communication between the departments. This makes solving issues extremely difficult. As far as exams for the school, they are proctored, and you can take them at home. The proctors don't follow one standardndard. There is one proctor that I could barely pass their requirements, even when I was in an empty room. The other proctors, as long as I passed the checks, it went smoothly. When writing papers, the people checking them are not supposed to have access to your information. It is supposed to be completely non-biased. They aren't even supposed to know who wrote the papers. Yet have been flagged for not adhering to professional integrity. Why, because this paper isn't written in the same style as my last paper. I stated my concerns from the beginning that I could not take time out of work for student teaching. I was told "we will cross that bridge when we get to it", "take out a loan", and "don't worry about that right now. I kept asking, but I was already enrolled and making great progress through the classes. I have hit the clinical stage now and have been forced to change degrees. They state that there is no way to work at the school (which is very willing to work with me) while student teaching. The district actually moved me to a school and position to make sure I could work and do student teaching. Well, that is something that I cannot do with WGU. So I have changed to a non-licensure degree. This will add even more challenges for me. I can choose an alternative path to licensure; thankfully, that is an option. As long as I manage to get my Bachelor's degree. Having to change degrees, I am now required to take three additional classes. Simple classes, same content as what I have already done, with different names.

DECEPTIVE MARKETING ADS, EXPELLED A ADA STUDENT RETALIATION

Since my last review, WGU retaliated and expelled me from the school, a ADA student, in a self paced program, who showed up and did the work but this school could not and is educational fraud. The conduct department violates due process, blocked access to my last test so I couldn’t graduate- as I completed the entire masters program in marketing, blocked my diploma of graduation, wasted time/ money, they suppress honest 1 star reviews and retaliate, they have deceptive marketing practices to get you enrolled, how do you expelle a student in a “self paced” program??? Radical left hating on conservative students. Also student disability descrimination- the student disability department Marci should be fired as none of them are licensed doctors and ignorant on ADA compliance and do not take accountability for their own mental crisis. The appeals, conduct department all blocked my courses, in house proctoring retaliated and dont abide by ada accomadations on purpose and this only happened after 1 year of attending in my graduating term to prevent a diploma and try to get more money- it’s a scam. See my website on how I filed 5 reports, to get financial aid refunded, office of civil rights involved ASAP & attorneys involved. Get a civil rights lawyer for violation of due process- my own mentor sabotaged my success AS SEEN from one of my reviews-which is opposite of their marketing Claimes at western governors university. This university should be fined and removed from any federal funding. They are scared of Ai because you will see their education fraud operation their running here. They blocked my number from wellness therapy services, blocked my number so I can’t contact financial aid department- these people do not show up to work, never attend meetings and retaliate with hate because you transparently speak with freedom of speech so they expel, lie and attack students in a self paced program. This is educational abuse and an attack on our freedoms to education. Do not attend this school and turn them in and get a lawyer in Utah to hold these unethical, dishonest, criminals accountable. Lawyers “Tyler Aires & Amy Martz “ in Utah . WGU HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF ALL OF THIS AND THEY STILL CONTINUED THE ILLEGAL ACTIONS- THEY OWED MILLIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT FOR THESE ILLEGAL ACTIONS and civil rights violations, keep using your voice and make your civil rights claims today. You are making the future of schools better by reporting this illegal education scam.

I have been taking classes at WGU and I love the convenience of being able to complete classes on my own time. Also, testing is offered all through the night. I don't have to stress over taking time from my day job to complete my college degree.

WGU offers a flexible program

WGU offers a flexible program, unstructured for you as the student to determine your education path and work flow for study and assignment completion. If you are motivated, dedicated, and a self-starter, this is a great university. If you need guided instruction, structure, and set due dates, this is not a good match for you. My program mentor was my greatest support and provided assistance for my education and professionally.

The accommodation for me and my daughter. It was just the two of us. The staff made her feel welcomed and a part of the experience. It was a relief for me and I am grateful for their understanding.
