The food was not that great. I was disappointed. The waitress was great. Manager was the worst. Someone in my party ordered a drink. As my friend was drinking a piece of the glass broke off into their mouth. The glass layed on the table with a big chunk broken off. The manager was notified and came to table. The manager was totally shocked. Then the manager was gone. The manager was a no show our whole meal. The waitress was the only one apologetic. I and the rest of my part will never eat there again.
Finding myself in an area of Fort Meyers (Fla) I did not know well (I first visited Fort Myers Beach in 1973 as a foreign 21 yr old foreign post Grad student studying in Michigan) I searched the local area, near my hotel, online, seeking good restaurants close to my location. Squeezed between the apex of McGregor and Cleveland Ave, the Hilton hotel is close to downtown Fort Myers and Joe's.Joe's Crab Shack 'popped' out with online and local maps, plus a good fit to my search. Extensive and inconvenient repairs to the Caloosahatchee River bridge, however, are making road access annoying but the decerning diner will find multiple easy, routes from myriad alternative access roads with ease - as I did.The cooking excellence was worthy of Michelin acknowledgement . I ordered a pasta dish with sea food - the presentation and (most notably) the cooking was exemplary ; I have had not experienced better even when living in Nice or Villefranchce-sur-mer.With a classic great American ambiance (worthy of the TGIF Brand) the restaurant plays a superlative selection of music that is par excellence. The views are wonderful and table options extensive. In conjunction with a seasoned wait staff this establishment is one not to miss if you travel to the Fort Meyers area.I met and spoke with an interesting group of guys who were also enjoying the ambiance as much as I was.
The restaurant wasn't very busy which was a pleasant surprise. Not too loud. Everything was clean and neat except for the seagull eating someone's leftovers outside the window. Our waitress was Valerie and the service she provided was very good, Exceptional even. Food was overpriced and under portioned though. I ordered the calamari tortilla appetizer that runs $19.99 and is usually very good, but I only received about five calamari with it.. and they looked NOTHING like the ones on the menu. After reporting this to my waitress the portion was corrected. I ordered the cajun crab pot that runs 45-50 bucks, and was very disappointed in the portion size. No attempt had been made to cook it properly and it was woefully over seasoned in way too salty. The Lobster claw was full but the SINGLE crab leg cluster and the body of the crab was all but empty and or shriveled. The shrimp were hard to peel.. (overcooked) About half of the mussels were empty as well. Upon emptying the pot I noticed that the bottom has a HUGE dimple or bump that rises up from the bottom so the the contents are ridiculously exaggerated. Shame on you, Crab Shack. I haven't been here in a while as I was disappointed by the same issues last time... There has been no change in the exaggerated portions that are typically pictured in the menu. Some of the pictures are no longer there... I wonder why. But I thought I'd give you guys another chance. Big Fail except for the service and the staff who were excellent. I know that seafood and labor is expensive but we live on the Gulf Coast, people. Sorry, Joe, but I don't think I'll be back.
First off DO NOT ORDER THE DEVILED OR STIFFED CRABwell dirty silverware, cold food, ordered stuffed or deviled crab with the seafood platter , and for 10 minutes tried to find a micro piece of crab meat to no avail!!!! Never will I go to joe's crap shack in Destin/Ft Waiton
After a 45 minute wait we were brought to a dirty table that was cleaned in front of us with a dry napkin. Which just pushed it onto our chairs. I thought I was bringing my wife somewhere that would impress her. Boy was I wrong. Eating their food was like paying for leftovers in the fridge. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's obvious that they survive off of tourist that never plan on coming back.
I may as well have gone to Coco’s or Denny’s for dinner! I had the stuffed flounder with lobster sauce and mashed potatoes. What I got was white rice, NO lobster sauce, which is the main reason I ordered the flounder! The flounder was dry and the stuffing tasted like it came straight out of the Mrs. Cubbisons box. It was disgusting! Not worth the $20 + bucks!! To make things worse, the waiter knew they had run out of lobster sauce, but brought it out to me anyway and said NOTHING. When I asked him, he said, “I was for you to say something about it.” I mean, are you serious??!! He didn’t offer to take the cost of the plate off or even offer me the chance to change my plate. Instead he offered me a side of fries or hush puppies! I mean come on! How much worse could it get! I mentioned dessert and he brought out two, cheap, poor looking sundaes. The chocolate syrup looked watery and the ice cream had freezer burn! They were gross! You’ll get better food and dessert from Coco’s or Denny’s for a lot less. Forget this dump!! Horrible!!!!
