I was very satisfied with the diligence…

I was very satisfied with the diligence and perseverance shown by our loan officer John Briggs. He communicated every step of the process in coordinating the reverse mortgage application through to a successful completion. We understood each step of the process which was fully explained by John throughout the approval process. I rate his knowledge very high and his sincerity outstanding.

Disappointed

I think that it's horrible to have the customer pay $550 for an appraisal up front for a heloc, that was money that I didn't have to begin with,Only to be ghosted by the loan officer. A total waste of time and money. Please read the negative reviews they will give you pause about using this company.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience! DO NOT USE MOO- Bait and switch- waited for over 8 days for revised documents and asked multiple times for the documents- was told for over a week that they were awaiting final UW approval- When I asked "what is being approved as I have not received or signed the final documents to be approved" I received no response- the documents I did receive were inaccurate and requested revised documents that I still have not received....... Also told that loan amount was increased without my knowledge and when I asked about that I got no response. Was finally responded to via text? The original documents had fees that did not apply to this mortgage.....

Caution

I was looking to refinance to pay off credit card and personal debt. I had a credit score in the low 700’s and a high DTI. I was told by a Mortgage Loan Originator from Mutual of Omaha Mortgage (MOOM), that my home's price range came in between $630,000 and $670,000 and set the estimate at $650,000. I had to pay the appraisal fee of over $500 which I could not afford. The MLO told me to put it on one of the credit cards that would be paid off with the proceeds of the refi. The appraiser they sent was unprepared to do what she had been paid to do. She forgot her ladder and asked to borrow mine. I was very hesitant to allow this because if she was injured while using my ladder it would be my liability. But I caved in after she said she would not be able to get into the attic, where the new HVAC system had been installed. I received a copy of the appraisal which was $50,000 under the estimate. There was crucial information on the appraisal that was inaccurate or missing. I contested the appraisal, but the appraiser refused to change any information. I found out through public records that in late 2020 this appraiser settled disciplinary action against her by the state’s Real Estate Division for conduct violations. I brought this to the attention of the MLO and requested a full or at least, partial, refund because I questioned the appraiser’s competency. He refused, stating the appraisal was completed. I approached another company. This rep for this company asked me if I was aware that MOOM changed me from a conventional to an FHA and if I understood the difference. As he was explaining what the implications were, I realized this was not clearly communicated by MOOM. I moved forward with the other company and oddly enough their appraiser valued my home at $670,000. Use extreme caution when dealing with of Mutual of Omaha Mortgage. Question everything.

Bait and Switch

These guys are the worst I have ever experienced. They think everyone is stupid, and will be condescending and demeaning to you if you question them or insist on verification of what they are claiming. If you want an example of classic bait and switch, these are your guys. Stay far, far away from them.

Horrible company

Horrible company. I've requested them to stop sending me mortgage offers and take me off their mailing list for over two years and they always say they do and then another one the next week. They also don't show it is Mutual of Ohama, it comes as VA Loan Program and in the tiny fine print shows their real name and states they have no affiliation with VA. False advertising.

I'm really worried that this company is…

I'm really worried that this company is scamming to obtain personal information. I uploaded and received confirmation on Oct. 11. Received a call as well and was told I'd hear back by Monday. Nothing. I called after 2 weeks and agent said he had kidney stones but for sure would call the next day. A week has passed by and again, nothing.-Response:It's one thing to make a note and quite another to actually perform the action. There was no phone call on Oct. 17 and I talked to the agent after that and he assured me that he would get my application was in process. In fact, as of today your website still shows it processing. But, I will take your response as a clear answer that you don't care to do business with me.

Disappointed

I was very excited to purchase a new home with Mutual of Omaha, utilizing my VA loan benefit. Unfortunately, the rate was not locked in, nor was I informed. The loan officer knew I was happy with the discussed rate and cost of points to buy down the rate. He even agreed to beat a competitor by $1,000. After I went through nearly the entire process, I was informed that the rate was not locked in. I was then sent the new cost to purchase points, which increased $8,000! Instead of trying to keep my business, the loan officer said sorry and suggested I use another company. He left me no other choice. I have to say I am extremely disappointed and upset that he wasted so much of my time. I honestly thought this company cared about our veterans but this loan officer proved otherwise.

GREAT REVERSE MORTGAGE EXPERIENCE

I just completed my reverse mortgage, working with Barbra Blair. The whole reverse mortgage process was easy and moved along quickly. Barbra was always quick to answer my emails and just a wonderful person to work with. I would highly recommend her for your reverse mortgage.

Bad Service from Mutual of Omaha Mortgage Company

Yeah, I'm not too happy with Mutual of Omaha mortgage services. After a little over a year, they went and sold our mortgage to a different servicer, that pisses me off! They also lost a check I mailed them, which miraculously showed up 3 weeks later, which they cashed after I was forced to send them another check to replace the lost one. In spite of their incompetence and receiving two payments that month, they also hit me with a $79 late fee that they would not reverse. I wouldn't waste my time with them!
