There was always the option of going to A and E as advice given, earlier in the evening.

This service is not fit for purpose! Not even trying! My wife couldn’t breathe properly yet the guy on the phone kept asking to talk to her, he asked us 10 times the same crap question does she have tightness in her chest I said yes she is having difficulty breathing, The guy then asks if the tightness is pain, we answered not pain but just tightness in breathing! 10 freaking times - I got pissed off I was like look my wife can’t breather can we just speak to someone else as you can’t understand what we are saying!

The amount of tax we both pay and this is the state of the service we get, in third world countries you get 10 times what you pay for here!

Terrible experience with support.

Extremely poor service. I spent over 40 minutes on the phone without any response! This morning, I visited the emergency room due to intense pain. They directed me to call for an urgent appointment, but I received no answer. Disgraceful.

Ineffective service.

I found the service to be ineffective. I reached out for urgent help due to an infection and needed antibiotics, but I couldn’t go to the emergency room as I felt dizzy and had a baby with me. They informed me that they were too busy to have a doctor prescribe anything. Instead, they asked irrelevant questions and provided generic advice. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time. I ended up contacting a private healthcare provider who quickly prescribed the antibiotic I needed.

Frustrating Experience on New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve, with freezing temperatures outside, the so-called clinician was going through a checklist and asked if I had been stung by a bee or wasp! I kept explaining that I just wanted advice regarding a bad reaction to an antibiotic, but after 20 minutes of irrelevant questions, I lost hope.

Exceptional Support on a Holiday

I contacted the prescription line at 10:10 AM and spoke with a wonderful representative who conducted my assessment. My local pharmacy was unable to provide my weekly IV medication, and my GP surgery was closed. After reaching out to the support team, I learned that since it was a controlled substance, I needed to consult with the community GP. The representative marked my case as urgent, but due to the bank holiday, they were quite busy. She mentioned that the GP would call me within two hours. I wasn't very hopeful given previous reviews, but to my surprise, I received a call at 12:48 PM from a doctor who was fantastic. She resolved my medication issue, ensuring I had enough to last until Monday when my surgery reopens. She even went the extra mile by calling my pharmacy to confirm they had stock before sending the prescription. Unfortunately, they were closed for lunch until 2 PM, but another local pharmacy had what I needed. She sent a prescription there for the exact amount available, allowing me to catch up on missed doses, and promised to call back after 2 PM to check on the stock. True to her word, she called at 2:45 PM, and the pharmacy confirmed they had it. She sent the remaining medication there, which was ready within 15 minutes. I am incredibly grateful to the representative and the doctor. Without this medication, I would have faced hospitalization, which I was able to avoid thanks to their help. I had my first dose by 1:30 PM and the complete prescription by 3:20 PM. I empathize with those who have had negative experiences and sincerely hope others receive the same exceptional care I did. Thank you for going above and beyond; it is truly appreciated!

I reached out to the support service after an urgent referral from my healthcare provider concerning a concerning lab result (SHBG level of 180 nmol/L). Instead of receiving a proper clinical assessment, I encountered a call handler who seemed to be following a script and demonstrated a lack of basic medical understanding. Despite detailing a complex endocrine issue and a liver reaction to my current medication, the handler dismissed my systemic issues as merely a 'headache.' Alarmingly, the clinician I spoke with was unfamiliar with 'Patchs,' a key communication tool within the healthcare system. Being redirected back to an already overwhelmed provider is not adequate healthcare; it represents a failure in the duty of care. For those with complex or serious conditions, this service currently acts as a 'tick-box exercise' that overlooks urgent medical needs. This approach is genuinely concerning.

Complete waste of time

I called the service at 7:30 PM and was told a clinician would call back within an hour. After waiting four hours with no response, I felt so unwell that I had to go to bed. It's frustrating to see how the system is struggling; I thought perhaps my age was a factor, but other reviews indicate similar experiences for younger people too. It's disappointing to see the service asking for more funding while providing such inadequate support.

I contacted the service for guidance regarding my foot and knee pain. The initial representative informed me that an ambulance would be sent, but after waiting for several hours, I called back only to learn that no ambulance had been dispatched. Instead, I was told that a clinician would reach out to me, which had not been mentioned during my first call. I was advised to take pain relief and await a call from a GP on duty. Ultimately, I received a notification stating that no GP could return my call, effectively closing my case. Additionally, my request for advice via text resulted in a broken link.

Disappointing out-of-hours support experience

I sought out-of-hours help for a suspected ear infection for my one-year-old, who was crying uncontrollably. I was promised a call from a doctor within an hour, but after waiting until 2:06 AM without any contact, I called back to find the representative unhelpful and robotic. It seemed my child's needs were not prioritized at all. This service clearly fails to fulfill its intended purpose.
