Review Time
I contacted Able via email late afternoon 25/02/26. Within 15 minutes I received a call back. They were helpful and knowledgeable. I provided information on my current plumbing issue and Able provided a quote for the work and offered several next day 4 hour appointment slots. I took the 8am to 12 slot. The plumber turned up and completed the work within this time slot. The plumber was polite, professional, tidy and did a great job.
The cost of the work was acceptable given the next day repair and ease of booking to completion of the work. I would definitely contact Able again .
I booked to have a 4 gang kitchen switch replaced due to a broken switch and a yellowed faceplate plus have a double light switch I had bought wired in.
I was quoted £180.
A very nice Electrician arrived who told me he didn't keep he would have to order them and the quote was for labor only and was obviously ex VAT. He wired up the light switch only. I paid £130 in total which seems a lot as only half the job was done.
Update following response. I called, you quoted £180 for the whole job so I booked. There was no mention of so much for the 1st item and so much for the 2nd plus VAT plus materials etc etc. You took my card details, I took a day off and the electrician should have turned up with everything to do all the jobs for £180.
Plus I don't expect to be told to buy the parts that he didn't bring to ring back to rebook the job.
Beware of these people. They attended my flat in London and charged £239 paid in advance for two visits. All they did was to lay out traps and put down poison. We had already lay out traps to no avail. The mice were still there 5 days after they came. We called another firm and they blocked the points of entry which resolved the problem. Able Group claim that with further visits they would have managed to get rid of the mice, which is ridiculous as they do not address the problem, but patch it down in a way you could do yourself at a fraction of the price. Total waste of money. Instruct at your peril.
Toilet fitted in December...seat Has come off ,cheap plastic... was fitted at great expense... Vicki this is the second time I've left a review I have sent post code LE5 5TH before.. the lady is 90 she has dementia... paid nearly £900 for a substandard job... I believe she had a phone call but wasn't asked about the toilet...someone needs to go a fix the seat, ( which is very thin plastic)...Ray was the guy that did the job...
Initially, the process for arranging the visit was outstanding. The staff was friendly and attentive, making an effort to secure an earlier appointment for our boiler issue. However, that’s where the positive experience ended. The technician arrived without any tools, leaving my wife alone in the apartment feeling very uneasy. She even called me on speakerphone to check if his demeanor improved... it did, slightly. He turned on the boiler, allowed it to start properly, listened to the unusual sounds, and checked the error code—having to call other technicians for clarification. He didn’t thoroughly inspect the boiler, yet he declared it “condemned” on the spot, citing a “corroded heat exchanger” and stating that the company would not provide a quote for replacement until the building management inspected the gutters, which were fine. He removed the fuse from the boiler without informing us and left. Fast forward 24 hours, we had another technician come to quote for a new boiler, as the previous technician seemed uninterested in helping, and the company didn’t seem eager for the business. The new technician was appalled that the fuse had been taken out without our knowledge or consent. He refused to provide a quote until he diagnosed the issue himself. After spending 10 minutes on basic checks, he found that the problem was a blocked condensate pipe—it took him just 15 minutes to fix, and he felt embarrassed charging a full hour for something the previous company charged £98 + VAT for every thirty minutes. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident, but I would strongly advise anyone against using the service—especially if you are a woman alone!
I had my regular technician come by to assess an issue with my central heating. He suggested a power flush, but it wasn't something he could perform. I then found a local service online and arranged for them to send a specialist to provide a quote. The specialist listened to my concerns and questioned whether a power flush was necessary. After examining the system, he opened a valve that I had closed while replacing some taps, and that resolved the issue. Since he only came to assess and quote, there was no charge. I can't recommend this service enough, which is why I'm leaving this review—something I don't typically do.
I highly advise against using this service. I reached out about a hot water issue and requested a swift resolution. A plumber came, spent just 28 minutes, charged £120, and left. This was on Thursday at 4 PM. I followed up several times with the company for updates, but they claimed they were waiting for the plumber's estimate. After multiple calls on Friday with no updates, the weekend passed without communication. By Monday, after more calls, they still had no pricing information. It was now the fifth day without hot water. On Tuesday morning, a representative said she had the estimate and would send it via email. By 4 PM, I still hadn't received it. When I called again, I was informed it was pending from admin. Eventually, I got the estimate of £1200 plus additional costs. I promptly asked for details on the pump they planned to buy as I hadn’t found one online for that price. To this day, I have received no response. It seems they profit from diagnosing issues without actually resolving them. I had another plumber come yesterday; he assessed the situation, purchased the pump, fixed it, and charged £420, including the pump. This service appears focused on overcharging customers.
