This company is a complete scam. Stay well away.In preparation for the arrival of my daughter in September 2024 I decided to get a small leak in my roof repaired and got in touch with Assist Roofing. They said they'd be right out to assess the problem and give me a quote. Naively I thought their quick response was a good thing but in hindsight anyone who is available to do a job that quickly probably isnt in very high demand. The owner's father came out to inspect the work the next day and stood in the driveway looking at the roof. He then asked me if I could lend a ladder to him so he could get up to have a closer look. I didnt so he stood on the wall instead. A roofer who doesnt bring a ladder for inspections, I should have heard the alarm bells.Next he said it would be a full day's work and cost €2,000. I said alright and he said he'd have a crew over in the next few days.A few days later, John and some lads arrived outside and went straight up onto my roof without letting me know or announcing their arrival. John sat in his van. Then John just walked straight into my house without knocking and started telling me the job would be €5000 if I wanted to do a proper job that would last 12 years. I said no thanks just fix the leak. The deal was that he would replace the battens and felt on half of the roof over our garage conversion. They "finished" the job and were gone within about an hour (not the full day that had been quoted for).A few weeks later my daughter had been born. She was home from the hospital for 5 days when there was a very heavy rain storm. Rain began pouring in through the ceiling like it never had before. Pouring down on top of the main fuse board of the house. Instead of fixing the small leak they had made it 100 times worse. My partner's brother, an electrician, had to come to the house in the middle of the night, turn off the electricity to the house and try to divert the water from the leak with plastic tarp. He then organised for us and our new born baby to go and stay in his friend's house until he was able to turn the electricity back on.I contacted John immediately, as it says on his website that they have 24 hour response. Big surprise, they dont and he said he wouldn't be able to get a crew to my house until Monday. He eventually arrived to "fix" the roof and he promised to do a proper job, replace the flashing and pay towards the repairs of the damage that he and his crew had caused. He did none of it.He sent his crew of lads, none of whom could speak a word of English, back up onto the roof and they poured concrete into the holes that they created. The total cost of repairs to the room after the rain storm was €2700. I asked John for €1800. He refused and mocked me to my parter, telling her that it was my fault because I was too cheap to pay for the full roof to be replaced in first place.John never refunded a penny to me and now a year on the roof is once again leaking badly just a few days before Christmas.I am absolutely raging over this and have been for the last year.I've no idea how a lad like this can sleep at night. As you will see from many other reviews, he has done the same to many other trusting people like myself who unwittingly handed over our hard earned money just for this serial scammer to rob.My dead Granny would know more about fixing roofs than this lad. Stay well clear.Karma will catch up on you John.If zero stars was an option that is what this shower would get.I have videos available of their handy work if anyone is interested.
I had a roof job done in August. I did not read any reviews as I was under time pressure to get the work done. The father practically hounded me for money, even turned up outside my bedroom window at 8 in the morning. Now six weeks later, I eventually have an invoice but not the guarantee they so proudly display on their van. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a woman on my own. I now have asked my son to make the calls!!!! Avoid them. And the workers were fairly messy - but there were always excuses. The attic is also a mess with fallen debris, which maybe can't be helped, but no effort was made up clean it up.
AVOID!!!!Terrible company!!!!Wanted two windows put in, Michael convinced us to replace a large part of our roof as well!Three Georgian lads did a TERRIBLE job!!!!!Left a mess in the garden and inside the bedroom. The windows were fitted incorrectly. Not done right, tiles came off after the first storm. All the work needed to be redone!!!!DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tried to get a gutter repair job for my elderly dad. We didn't realise it at the time. We we're put on to a Dublin worker. Who didn't either and my dad was onto and waiting for a worker in the Dublin area. Even though an eircode was sent, this was not checked till leaving for my dad's job. 3 hours later. Mistakes do happen, I have no poblem with that, but it was the treatment then. Was told I would get a text & his leak would be looked at. Nothing. Very unprofessional service.
I contacted this company through Google for an urgent roof leak repair. John and his team eventually arrived and began work. The following day, John claimed the job was finished and quickly requested full payment. That same evening, I checked the roof—only to find the leak was still there, completely unresolved. When I called John to express my concerns and ask him to return, his attitude changed instantly. After receiving what I now realize was an excessively high payment, he refused to take responsibility. Instead of coming himself, he sent workers who didn’t speak English and couldn’t explain what they were doing.Their so-called “repair” failed during the very next rainfall, and the leak worsened significantly. In the end, I had to hire another professional to redo the entire job properly. My advice: steer clear of this company. John comes across as persuasive and eager to close the deal, but once he’s been paid, he vanishes. This experience cost me time, money, and additional damage to my property. Do not make the same mistake.

What started as a damp patch moved to a big leak further down our roof and despite admissions and many, many empty promises over months, John refused to come back and sort the error. Thousands of euros (I was sucked in) and massive stress. You have to judge a company like this on how it stands over it’s guarantee - a giant FAIL for me. Flashy vans and website promises are no good when you’re left with drip buckets and wet towels for months in your home.
