What a bunch of crooks. Mediocre products, ridiculous hidden charges. Use anyone else other than Microsoft. My grief is that signing up for a simple pay as you go subscription immediately and silently bundles you with a $29 a month support plan, plus there are so many other hidden charges for a simple VM. Cancel your subscription and these crooks carry on charging you for support. Try to obtain support about these charges and there isn't any, just the usual 'read our bullsh*t FAQs or ask the community. Avoid the stress and cost, go elsewhere. I'll avoid Azure now for life.
For the last 5 years I have been a fairly happy MS azure customer. I have build a sitebuilder for vacation rentals, where I host my customers websites on a azure setup.I felt quite secure, having daily and weekly backup of the enire WM. All that ended this monday afternoon, when one of my customers called me: She could not access her site. I check her site and another customers site, both sites were gone. My developers ask me to check my server from the azure portal, as they can not get access to it. When I login, my azure profile is wiped. There is no resources (server, database, backup and so on), not even my invoices. It is as if I am a new user. I was worried about getting hacked, this is much worse. Everything is gone, and I can not do anything for my customers. After 11 calls I got through the AI answering support calls for microsoft busness (it will keep ask which product I have problems with) to a human supporter, who could only help me with creating a support ticket for the azure support. I am still waiting for a reply on that ticket.
I tested the free service of MS Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, and I must say Azure is by far the worst one.Quite hard to configure and to understand how to use it.The tiny free server instance is extremely slow and undersized, you can't almost install and run anything without going out of memory (the one of AWS has 1GB of RAM too but there you can run several apps without problems), the proposed OS is an old and limited version of Windows server. But the most annoying part are the unpredictable costs: it is not clear what is free and what is not, you use some functions and only after 1 month you discover that you were billed because they were not free. During the time, some functions, like backups, became payed without notice. When you are billed, it's not clearly specified for what and I did not find a clear window where it is shown what you should deactivate to avoid this or that cost. Finally, when I decided to delete my account, I spent some days doing that, because you cannot just close your account if you don't deactivate and delete all your instances, backups and functions before, and there's not a single window where you can do it with a click.Very disappointing!
Azure Microsoft has an agreement with my school (Purdue Global University). Purdue pays them and students get their software needs met for their duration of study. I have had no trouble with their main package of Microsoft 395. But the products I received the Azure- forget it!!! Visio and Access have been horrific. It was so bad I eventually bought Visio. Now they want $99 for a year's access to Access! My school already paid! Have been trying to get it straight for several weeks. They keep referring me to another unit. I am told they will call in 24 hours. They called once. After about 10 days. I said "Excuse me, let me get comfortable. It will take a minute." I got comfortable. When I picked up the phone again they had hung up. Today I got an email from them. It was the FIRST email I received from them. It said, "Since we haven’t heard from you, we’re closing your case at this time". It said to reopen the case follow these steps. Go to portalxxxxxxx. Then select "Manage support requests" in the top-right Help menu (?)Guess what? NO SUCH BUTTON!!!!!! Azure get your act together!!!!!! Please!
No chance to use Public IP address once you install Linux instance, only Private IP address is listed. Spent enough time to bring me into stress. All manuals I found from Microsoft are never compatible with their updated Azure interfaces. So what is the purpose of posting them ?
