Used Benenden as my surgery's phone lines were down.Spoke to their Doctor and I was sent a prescription, plus a link to use their affiliate pharmacy. They charged me over £80 for 2 items that I could have got from Boots or Amazon for about £12. Shockingly extortionate. The Doctor had prescribed me items i could have just got OFF THE SHELF with NO prescription! When I complained to Benenden customer service they weren't interested and said they have no durastiction over their affiliates pricing and weren't interested that their GP could have told me I could have just bought the medication from the shop rather than paying for their prescription. Shocking service.
Disappointed to be told yesterday that Benenden Healthcare cover doesn’t cover you for two separate health problems at the same time. Never seen this fact publicised by Benenden Healthcare in their advertising.
Was told yesterday and this morning that if you pay for Benenden Healthcare cover each month and are unfortunate enough to have two separate health problems at the same time then Benenden won’t open a case for the second health issue until you have completed your consultations and any treatment in relation to the first referral.
Not very satisfactory at all.
I rang Beneden to find out the procedure to get my varicose veins removed . I was told they no longer cover this procedure and I could benefit from a 10% discount on self pay . Both my son in law and his father both had this procedure recently.This is the first time in 9 years of being a member that i have requested any treatment . This procedure was included when i joined but has been withdrawn in the last two years .I was not informed of any changes but apparently it was mentioned in their Be Healthy magazine . I do not read the magazine and would not expect to find changes to the policy displayed in this way . It seems that when there is an increase in the policy or they want to target you with some other money spinning venture they can email or post you information but not for changes that are being withdrawn from your membership.I was very aware of certain conditions that were not covered but it seems less and less of the minor conditions are also not covered now.
My husband asked for a painful callous to be removed in the middle of the palm of his hand which is stopping him from working in a constructive way, this is also not covered . Finally he has a lump on the back of his neck which is benign but irritating and getting larger , also not covered. I now have no faith in this organisation it seems they are marketing for more people to join but its existing members are actually covered for less . I have family members also on this membership but will be cancelling as it seems the cover is minimal if you manage ton find what you are actually covered for.
After waiting through the qualifying period, I needed assistance for an asthma flare-up on a weekend, so I requested a video call with a doctor. I ended up waiting about 3 to 4 hours for the appointment. The call was also delayed beyond the scheduled time, and I was advised to contact a different service. It's frustrating to feel like my money is going towards celebrity endorsements rather than my healthcare. I'm very disappointed.
I have found this service to be unhelpful and obstructive when I needed assistance. I was compelled to postpone surgery while waiting for a code to be released. A week later, I seem to be in the same situation, only to be met with another unhelpful, monotone representative. I will be canceling as soon as possible.
