Review Time
I had the BEST day ever today with Peter in the Aston Martin DB5. Peter was a great instructor and made me feel very comfortable. I could have driven round that track for hours with him! Loved it and would highly recommend both the car and Peter!!
I went on this day yesterday and although fun in parts there was plenty of room for improvement. The staff were in the most part fun and helpful and the day was enjoyable. However had 4 main issues:1. My 2nd car the instructor said he needed to go the to the toilet quickly and then would come back. I then saw him go, come back have a 5min chat with some other instructors, then walk right passed me, check the car, walk to a storage crate get his bag and then walk off again back to the office this all took about 20mins. He said nothing to me, when I asked what was going, the other staffed thought I had already had my go. They said this bloke was one of the managers, they apologised and it took another 10mins to sort another instructor. This was totally unacceptable behaviour showing a total lack of interest in the customer. He had a bearded, thin weasely face and was wearing filthy converse trainer. Avoid! probably one of the owners family members as no idea how he could have that job.2. Carver Essex Track - if you book this dont go there, the 'track' is in bad state of disrepair full of pot holes and much of the track is only 1 car wide (the staff said the airfield wont let them widen it, even though there is plenty of space) this means lack of ability to pass slower vehicles apart from in 2 spots.3. The above point is then not helpful when you have a mix of children driving and experienced adults. I went round in a Nissan GTR but I was stuck in a traffic jam behind a child in a McClaren doing 25mph with 5 other cars for two laps. I think max speed was about 50mph. Slightly pointless and not the child faults but could be better organised.4. I was told when I arrived that the Ferrari Cali T which I booked was not available anymore due to mechanical issue. When I got to the cars, people were being called to have a go in a Ferrari Cali T.
Really hated this from beginning to end. Got the voucher as a birthday gift. I tried to book a few sites neare and they were all unavailable throughout the year. They advertised loads of locations and cars but when you go on, options at very limited. I then decided to pick weekends and had to pay more for a day 8 months later. As life happens, I tried to Change the date to then be told I had to pay extra for every vehicle. It's a big old scam. Will not recommend.In the end I just never went oh and don't even try calling tooke 32 minutes just to get so eone to answer to be told that there was one person in the office
Had a very good day staff organised professional driver very good still buzzing had a brilliant high speed passenger ride in Police InterceptorHad a long queue at media van to pick up photos due to only 2 staff but overall such a fantastic experience
The experience was new and interesting, but the overall driving and the day there wasn’t great. Your sat with an instructor who tell you to follow everything they say. I’m glad I got to drive a Ferrari and put my foot down on a straight (not allowed to drive fast in the corners) but don’t expect anything special. Plus the money grabbing add ons they have everywhere is a joke. this was a gift for me but I ended up forking out over £30, and could be way more just for an extra lap or extra car to drive. Also sat waiting in the cold for an hour to get chosen for the car. Good if you want to drive a nice car for a couple minutes but that’s it.
Booked to drive Subaru , focus and mustang ! focus failed safety check so had to choose something else,I chose the caterham!Guy in the mustang was fine but very tame, telling me when to change gear etc , the guy in the Subaru was spot on let me basically drive with hardly any input.The caterham well, the instructor treated me like I was a child when he wasn’t much older than a child himself and was very abrupt, as a representative of this company I think he needs some pr training. Maybe helmets with comms would help in open top cars.It was good day until this last car !!!!!
I honestly couldn’t fault the experience. I purchased a 3 car drive with a high speed passenger drive for my other half for a father days gift with virgin and then booked in. It was very busy but it was so organised and it run and flowed without any fault we know exactly where we were in the queue at all time so we pile go off for food and drinks and come back when it was closer to the time of your turn with the car. Honestly I would highly recommend and I think my partner will be back for a 2nd turn.
My second time doing a 4 car day. Had a great time again, staff make you feel safe but allow you to push the cars to your ability if you fancy a fast drive. Extra laps when you are out on the track is a great option, I drove 2 cars for extra laps again. I will definitely be doing another 4 car day before too long. Highly recommended!
So well organised at the Abingdon track despite being extremely busy and all members of the team were so friendly and helpful from booking in to organising drives and great driving instructors. The track is really great too
