Unfortunately when collecting the hire car from Krakow Airport, I did not have a physical credit card, I accepted my error and paid the price!
When at the collection desk and being informed of the large value of the insurance I had to pay, I did ask for a reduction/lesser value, and upon checking my confirmation paperwork, I realised I had been charged the premium insurance at a cost of 999,99 PLN.
I believe I was mis sold the premium insurance and was not offered the standard insurance.
Considering my initial booking already cost me a non refundable £38.10 the additional cost of 999,99 PLN makes this a very expensive 5 day hire car.
CarFree refused by email and in person when returning the car to reduce the insurance to a more affordable standard insurance based on the fact I was not offered the standard insurance despite asking at the collection desk.
AVOID THIS SERVICE AT ALL COSTS! They are extremely money-driven, more than any other rental service I have encountered. If you have a financial dispute with them, not only will they pursue what they believe is owed through the car broker, but they will also refuse to accept the vehicle back at the airport. You will continue to be charged for additional days even after you have left the car in their designated parking area and handed over the keys to their employee. This is what I was informed by one of their representatives. I am unsure about the legality of their practices, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up losing all their customers in the future.

The entire car rental process was completed smoothly. Excellent communication from the service. The car was clean, relatively new, and competitively priced. Returning the car was also easy. I would highly recommend this service and would definitely use them again.
We just returned from Krakow. The car itself was good. However, it was clearly stated during booking that the credit card and main driver needed to match. Since I recently got married, my passport was still in my maiden name. The young representative at the desk was rather rude, saying it was ‘weird’ and insisted on charging me for their insurance because my name didn’t match (which was still under my married name). Additionally, the car seats were not safe or adequate, so I recommend bringing your own. Lastly, upon arrival, the staff member checking the car asked if we had paid extra to not return it clean. The car had minimal dirt from use in snowy conditions, which I found unusual to be questioned about. However, the return process was quite smooth, with no complaints there.
