Review Time
I returned an item more than one month ago, following Catawiki’s instructions and the agreement in the case.
The seller confirmed that Catawiki has already deducted the refund amount from their account. However, I still have not received my refund.
I have contacted support more than five times through the Help section and have received no response.
At this point, I feel extremely concerned and honestly feel left without protection as a buyer. Waiting over a month for a refund with no communication makes me question the reliability of the platform.
This situation is very frustrating and disappointing. I expect urgent clarification and resolution.
As a watch buyer I had one bad experience among 300 purchases , so insignificant. However this is due to the good quality of Sellers and not necessarelly to Catawiki customer support. In that particular case I was totally ignored.
As a Seller I am not pleased , there are certain practices which I consider bizare and borderline unfair.
My first experience with Catawiki was strange. First, when I saw the last seconds of a sale always increment when I posted a bid, I thought I had been cheated, but fortunately when I received the objet send by the seller this first reaction was rapidly forgotten.
I felt completely save using Catawiki. They assure that you get your item by holding constant contact to the sellers and only paying out your money when they are sure that your purchased item also looks as promised and isn't damaged. This system ensures great customer safety and fairness for both parties. Additionally the website itself is very easy to navigate and you can bid for almost anything valuable you desire. Its a dream for collectors. Payment is also very easy. The bidding system itself mirrors that of a real auction ensuring fairness that everybody gets a shot at bidding for their favorite piece.
I have used this site many times without any problems. However, I bought an item in September 2925 and the Seller used every excuse not to send it to me ( he wanted more money than it sold for). After 2 months he cancelled the sale and Catawiki refunded my money. Now in January 2026 the Seller has relisted the item and Catawiki will not do anything to either ban the Seller from breaking their rules or ensure the item is available to me.
I left a negative review after a seller failed to ship an item I purchased. I was eventually refunded.
Catawiki then contacted me and asked me to change my rating to neutral.
This shifts focus toward protecting seller ratings rather than reflecting the actual customer experience.
The platform relies on trust. Trust comes from factual reviews, not from softening or rewriting events.
Very bad experience – not recommended for people living in Switzerland
I strongly do not recommend Catawiki, especially for anyone living in Switzerland.
My experience has been extremely negative. For many items I was forced to pay double VAT and double shipping costs — once through Catawiki and again through UPS. This makes purchases unnecessarily expensive and confusing.
If you have a problem, it is almost impossible to speak with a real person or get proper support. Customer service is slow, unhelpful, and frustrating when you need to resolve serious issues.
On top of that, commission fees are extremely high, which makes selling or buying hardly worth it.
Overall, the platform creates more problems than value.
I do not recommend Catawiki to anyone, and especially not to people living in Switzerland.
From SignedCollection.com we bought a signed and framed black & white photo, showing Johan Cruyff and Willem van Hanegem at #WorldCup74. The product is of good quality, according to how it looks at the online presentation and arrived in good condition after a quick delivery.

Sometimes the bidding gets competitive and prices go higher than expected, but I still ended up with pieces I really like. Shipping is usually careful and on time. Worth checking out if you’re into collectibles.
