I visited this bakery with two friends around lunchtime, and surprisingly, there was no one in line before or after us. One of my friends ordered a latte and mentioned being vegan, only to be informed that there were no vegan options. Yet, we later spotted a roll labeled as vegan, which was quite confusing. For a lunchtime bakery, the limited choices were shocking. The shelves were nearly empty, with just a cookie, a few cheese scones, a couple of blondies, one vegan baguette, and a few other baguettes available. There was no bread whatsoever. While we were considering the scant cake options, the woman behind the counter addressed us in a rather abrupt and rude manner, asking, “you going to order?” This felt unnecessary and discourteous, especially since there was no queue, and we weren’t taking too long to decide with so few options. I eventually ordered a coffee and a cake. The coffee came out fairly quickly, and I must say, the server who delivered it was pleasant, as was the person clearing tables. However, the café itself was chilly, and the coffee was neither warm nor particularly noteworthy. I also felt uneasy about approaching the counter again after the earlier incident. Given that they were open until 4pm and it was still early, I found it quite disappointing that the bakery had so little to offer. Overall, due to the lack of food options and the exceedingly rude service at the counter, it’s a place my friends and I would not consider revisiting or recommending.
I visited a bakery in town with friends during lunchtime. There was no one in line ahead of us. The limited selection was surprising for lunchtime; the counter was nearly empty, offering just a cookie, a few cheese scones, a couple of blondies, one vegan baguette, and a few other baguettes. No bread at all. While we browsed the scant cake options, the staff member at the counter abruptly asked, “Are you going to order?” This felt rude and unnecessary, especially with no queue and limited choices. I eventually ordered coffee and cake, which arrived quickly. To be fair, the server who brought the coffee was friendly, as was the person clearing tables. However, the café was quite cold, and the coffee was lukewarm and unremarkable. I didn’t feel comfortable returning to the counter after the earlier interaction. Given they were open until 4pm and it was still early, I was disappointed by the lack of options. Overall, due to the limited food and the rude service, it’s not a place my friends and I would revisit or recommend.
This bakery in town is beautiful, with lovely surroundings, but it’s very expensive. I paid over £11 for two loaves of bread. They have a small café, but prices are high, with sandwiches at £7.50 and rolls at £6. I inquired about chips and salad with the sandwich but was told they weren’t included. While the bread is delicious, the high prices mean this will likely be my first and last visit.
