Review Time
This year was the third time I’ve ordered from Corrin for firewood and I always have a pleasant experience. Their team is professional and their firewood always comes through to heat my place. I trust their products never have pests or mold. The wood always lights quickly and lasts me through the evenings. I will continue to purchase from them for my winters here in Delaware.
I first bought wood from Corrin near the end of this past winter season when my supply was low. I bought just a cord to see me through the end of the cold season. The ordering process was not bad at that time, and the wood was acceptable enough for me to try a larger order prior to the upcoming winter season. Since I planned to make a large order (5 cords), I asked if I could talk with the owner and request a discount. I called several times to try to order, and the owner was never available, so I wrote a review explaining the situation. In response to the low review, the owner called me directly. He apologized, said he'd been busy, and offered to give me a discount on my order in exchange for a good review. In addition, the owner said he was calling me from his direct line and that I should contact him directly in the future should I ever have a problem and that he would take care of it.It took a few months before the order was ready, but I picked a sunny day for the delivery of the 5 cords on a day when my wife was off from work. I'm retired and in my 60s, and I knew I would need a sunny day and my wife's help to get 5 cords of wood safely into my garage and stacked. On the morning of the delivery day, someone from Corrin called to say that our wood was wet and needed to be re-cooked. The delivery day was changed to a day when rain was expected around noon, and it was a day when my wife had to work. I called Corrin with my concerns about the weather, but their staff person assured me that my wood was going out first thing in the morning. When I called again first thing in the morning, the staff said that the wood was loaded and heading out. When a few hours passed and the wood hadn't arrived, I called yet again, and they said it was coming. The wood wasn't dropped off until close to 11:00, leaving me about one hour to get 5 cords of wood indoors before a major rainstorm. In addition, one of the trucks (they needed 3 trucks to deliver the wood), went too far off the driveway and, in an effort to get turned around, ended up taking out a large chunk of my driveway. The driver said it was his fault, took some photos, and said he'd be back to repair it as soon as he got permission to do so from the owner. I worked like a beast, literally throwing the wood into the garage at full speed to try to beat the rain. When I'd gotten maybe 40 or 50% of the wood inside, it started pouring. I raced to my shed in my lower lot to retrieve a large tarp to try to save some of the wood. The motorized cart that I use to get around my property skidded off the road in the heavy rain and rolled off my embankment, which resulted in a broken leg. Once I was back from the hospital, I called the owner directly and left a message explaining that half the wood was soaking wet in my driveway and that I had a broken leg and needed some assistance. I asked if he could retrieve the wood and re-cook it (as they said they had to do when wood gets wet), and I wanted to hire a couple of his guys to stack the wood for me. Weeks passed by without a response. In addition, no one from Corrin ever returned to repair the large hole in my driveway. In the month since all this happened, I've had the driveway repaired by a licensed professional. I've also paid a group to stack the wet wood for me since I couldn't get any assistance or even a response from the owner of Corrin. I certainly cannot recommend a company that treats its customers so poorly. I'll buy my wood in the future from any other provider, and I urge prospective customers to choose more wisely than I did.
Wood doesn’t burn as cleanly as usual. I’ve been using Corrin since 2020 and have been thrilled. However, this last batch of Red Oak delivered in Jan 25 has been a bit harder to start and keep lit. It’s also a bit more Smokey than has been my experience.
Corrin (otherwise known as Strobert Tree Services) is one of the only companies in Northern Delaware that sells kiln-dried wood. We typically buy a 1/2 cord each season. Excellent product, easy to order online, excellent delivery. Highly recommended.
