Tried to report an incident of drug dealing from a car - partial VRM obtained: letter (three spaces unknown) then three letters with a colour, make and model of car obtained on a road which is in a small market town. Full comprehensive description of single dealing occupant available. Was informed that unless I could provide full VRM and name of dealing driver they couldn't take a report. As an ex detective constable with a major UK police force there was more than sufficient detail to be passed on: the call handler simply WASN'T INTERESTED!!!!! Seems this organisation is as disinterested as policing in general!
This charity is a scam. They are not genuinely interested in helping. Don't waste your time calling them, believing you can contribute to society by reporting crime. Their focus will not be on addressing crime; instead, they will try to discourage you from reporting it.
Phoned up crimestoppers. Was on the phone waiting patiently. Finally, got through after 18 minutes. Reporting a vehicle which didn't have a valid mot! They weren't interested in helping report it, unless I had a a name and address! Even if you've got the vehicle registration number they weren't interested. So my advice is don't bother with crimestoppers! A waste of space. Won't do anything about it. Ridiculous!
1.7 stars as at 04 Apr 25 says it all don't you think. I have reported incidence of a single repeated breaking of the law and received no follow-up response/questions. The reports identified credible risk to life and this 'charity' are asleep. You may suggest I call the emergency numbers. This is not possible as explained in my submission. I needed anonymity and previous attempts put in place by the police to enable anonymous reporting have all ceased, or available options are not clear. That is why I attempted to make a difference through Crimestoppers UK. Cutbacks I guess.
I stand and watch a dealer on a pushbike ride up to 3 tossers waiting on a prominent corner, he takes out three wraps, they walk off, he rides in a different direction, i call the police telling them what I see, and about to give a full description, it continues just like this,'sorry, can i stop you there?, you need to ring crimestoppers who will be able to sort this for you, thank you'.Hello, crimestoppers, Hi, i have just seen a drug deal and have a very goos description of the offenders, the guy on the bike...'Sorry sir, if you don't have a car reg or house number/address, you need to ring the police....... Great eh? no wonder were screwed!
Utter rubbish. Absolute disgrace of a service. I gave very detailed, decent proper information regarding drug dealing and I’m not just talking someone who’s looked out the window a few times. The info I provided was personal. potentially I’m putting myself at risk. I didn’t want to go through my local police force as I needed to remain anonymous for my safety and due to the fact I don’t want the hassle. I submit said info, request a reward code, wait months on end, mess around ringing them twice to be told to ring back, when I ring back a long time later, nothing, absolutely nothing. The call operator was not at all interested. Apparently the police have chosen ‘not to give a reward on this occasion’. Not even a thank you. By reading other reviews there is no reward, ever. Shambles of a company. And I know for a fact, the dealing has not been dealt with and is still continuing (granted the police may be investigating, from a distance) but ultimately the info I gave was more than sufficient for them to easily catch them in the act and be able to build a decent case.
