Review Time
Over the past exam season, Curio became one of the most valuable tools in my entire study process. I used it consistently for all four of my modules, and it genuinely transformed the way I revise, understand, and interact with my learning material. What stood out to me most was how collaborative and learner-centred the platform is. It never simply feeds you information; it actually works with you.
1. How I Studied Using Curio
My study workflow with Curio was simple but incredibly effective:
I would start by uploading my lecture slides for each module. After that, I’d read through Curio’s auto-generated summary, which is always neat, structured, and aligned with the content I provided. But the real power came when I opened the chat alongside it.
As I went through the summary, I would ask Curio to explain, expand, or teach me specific concepts. Unlike many AI tools that simply dump information or give a pre-packaged explanation, Curio actually engages in a guided learning process. It teaches step-by-step, gives examples, andmy favourite part is that it asks me to attempt answers. Then it analyses what I wrote and gives tailored feedback based on the slides and module content I uploaded.
It felt like studying with a tutor who constantly keeps you thinking rather than spoon-feeding you. This made my sessions interactive, active, and way more effective than traditional “AI answer” tools.
2. Tools That Made My Studying Easier
Curio’s built-in features genuinely surprised me with how thoughtful they were. A few that really stood out:
Tap-to-Explain: Being able to tap on a paragraph (or even an image!) and instantly get a clear explanation was game-changing. It cut down so much time I would’ve spent Googling or paging through textbooks.
Screenshot + Circle-to-Explain: I loved that I could take a screenshot of a diagram, circle the part I didn’t understand, and Curio would automatically explain that exact section.
Flashcard Auto-Generation: When chatting, if I touched on something important, even concepts not explicitly in the slides, Curio added them to my flashcards. It felt like having a study assistant keeping track of my learning gaps for me.
These tools together made revising so much smoother, especially under exam pressure. It kept everything in one place, saved time, and made complex topics feel less intimidating.
3. Minor Challenges I Experienced
While my experience was overwhelmingly positive, there are two areas that I think could be improved:
(a) Response Speed
This was the biggest issue I had. Curio’s responses often took close to five minutes to type out, letter by letter. At first, I thought it was my WiFi, but refreshing the page every time was the only way to speed it up. For active studying, especially close to exams, the slow typing became tiring and broke my focus. Improving the response speed (or adding a “respond instantly” option) would make a huge difference.
(b) Summary Aesthetic & Readability
In the Summary section, the headings and key topics are a pale beige colour that blends into the background a bit too much. It looks aesthetically soft, but it’s not very readable. Important headings should be bold, darker, or more prominent so your eyes can catch the structure of the page quickly. Improving visibility here would make scanning long summaries much easier.
Despite these small issues, Curio genuinely had a massive impact on my final exam preparation. It didn’t just give me information, it taught me, questioned me, corrected me, and supported me like a real study partner. It helped me understand my content deeply, kept me engaged, and made studying feel more interactive and less overwhelming.
I truly believe tools like Curio can change how students revise. It’s not just an AI that gives answers; it’s something that guides you, adapts to your module content, and improves your learning in a way that feels natural and motivating. I’m grateful I used it this exam season, and I’ll definitely keep using it in the future.
