I enrolled in DE Academy in February 2025 under a one-year agreement that included a job guarantee.
According to the contract, the scope of services included applying to 5–25 jobs per day on my behalf, along with unlimited support resources (resume reviews, mock interviews, Slack support, and coaching access) for the duration of the program.
In my experience, these services were not consistently delivered as outlined. There were periods where the daily application activity did not occur, and access to some of the “unlimited” support resources was inconsistent.
I participated in the program for the full contract term and remained engaged throughout. By the end of the guarantee period, I did not receive a data engineering role, and my refund request was denied.
After more than one year in the program, I am left with:

Based on my experience, I do not recommend doing business with this company. I encourage prospective students to carefully review the contract terms and fully understand the conditions before enrolling.

I learned an incredible amount, and Cristi and Rasika were a huge part of my progress. I am about 2.5 months into my courses, I feel like the course material is quite thorough and manageable to understand even if you are a beginner (like myself). The instructor’s are always extremely helpful and friendly whenever I am in need/ practicing my skills. They will always provide good feedback and what I have noticed feedback that I never would have thought make such a difference in helping my understanding. So far, I would definitely recommend if you are on the fence of wanting to g to break into data, but nervous. Once I got started there was no looking back. I am enjoying my experience and very excited for what the future holds!

I joined this program to strengthen my preparation for Data Engineering roles but wasn’t sure how to approach it in the right way. They evaluated my strengths and weaknesses and created a clear, step-by-step plan of tasks and activities to build my foundation.
The weekly mentor check-ins kept me accountable and consistent. The lessons and modules allowed me to learn at my own pace, and the live Q&A sessions helped me clear doubts quickly.
Working on real-time projects helped me understand how things work in practical scenarios. This experience has given me the confidence and clarity that I did not have before.
The mock interviews (sql and python) were very insightful, revealing my strengths/weaknesses. The tutorials were helpful too, but after some time, they felt more like nudging only, as I needed to read product documentation outside DEA for more in-depth understanding. Relevant in-depth coaching would be ideal, but I'll manage researching as needed; it's more stressful, but it'll make me resilient.
I enrolled in a Data Engineering program in December and tried hard to remain engaged. I was assured multiple times through messaging that I had 'lifetime access' without needing to extend, and that it would last beyond the year. However, later I was informed that by 1/8/2026, I would need to pay extra to renew, and that access was actually limited. Additionally, there were problems with mock interviews and calls being canceled or rescheduled due to staff availability and my own schedule, which made it difficult to make progress despite my efforts to rebook and stay involved. Overall, the experience was marred by unclear expectations.
After spending decades in various technical IT positions, I recognized that I lacked some of the key skills currently sought after in the job market. With Data Engineering and AI on the rise and offering lucrative salaries, I began to explore my options. After evaluating several programs, I decided on this particular one due to their interview mentoring and job placement assistance post-completion—services that traditional institutions typically do not offer. I also value the personal engagement with mentors and trainers that this program emphasizes. I'm currently about halfway through my studies and intend to update this review once I secure my first role in Data Engineering.
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for the guidance and support provided by my representative throughout my journey at the Data Engineer Academy over the past four months. Their instructions and encouragement have been instrumental as I progressed through the learning paths in SQL, advanced to data modeling, and began exploring Python.
