This was our second order; the first had issues, but the support team handled our complaint well. This time, we ordered a monkfish dish. The starter was delightful, though small, but the monkfish main course was poorly prepared, with too much skin making it tough to eat. The saffron potatoes were undercooked. However, the clam and cockle champagne sauce was tasty, and the dessert was enjoyable. Given the price, we felt a bit let down.
The Middle Eastern experience was exceptional. There was a beautiful harmony of flavors, making vegetarian food enjoyable. Portion sizes are on the smaller side, so those with larger appetites should take note! Delivery costs are high, but it's a nice treat for special occasions.
Part of our order was missing, and after reaching out, I was asked to check my fridge. I confirmed I had checked the box, but there was no follow-up. Thus, the caramelized onion and brioche are still in my fridge as we have nothing to pair them with! The main meal was lovely—beef wellington, carrots, and potato and celeriac dauphinoise, although I wasn’t a fan of the jus. The soup and scallop were okay. The dessert was mixed; the poached pear was too hard to eat, while the brioche pudding was delightful, though I didn't enjoy the mulled wine sauce. We've previously enjoyed fantastic meals from other chefs at a lower price. Disappointed as this was a special meal to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, and it didn't meet our expectations for a meal from a renowned chef. I’m updating this because I received an unexpected £25 refund, which has improved my view somewhat.
I’ve now had three meals from Dispatch and all have been superb. They arrive on time, the instructions are easy to follow and each one has been very tasty with good sized portions - in fact the two person meals always serve three in our house.
Ordered the Rick Stein lobster thermidor dinner for New Year's Eve. Expensive but good value, especially for those unable for health reasons to eat indoors at a restaurant. All three courses were excellent for delivered food. Only in a restaurant could one expect better. The portion sizes were good, there was plenty of taste and the menu as a whole worked well.Only the least important item, a bread roll, disappointed (dull and a bit stale). It would be better omitted but a recommendation given for providing one's own.Ordinary delivery was only guaranteed to arrive by 10pm, which seems a bit late for most people to start preparing, but customer service were very helpful in ensuring an earlier slot at a price.Overall five stars.
