I'd read so many lovely reviews of Goodmove, that, when we needed to sell our house quickly, it seemed a good option. When I talked to 'one of their advisors on the phone he cheerfully offered us a conditional offer of 260k, valuing the property at 319k, so about 80% We agreed to this, it sounded more or less as expected. An 'independent' surveyer came round, had a very casual look at the house, took some pictures and left.Goodmove got back to us and said, unfortunately the house had only been valued at 180k, so they were only able to offer us £140k! This was an insult, so we abandoned Goodmove and got a local, regular estate agent to value the property. They valued it at £250kposted it up on their site and we were immediately swamped with viewings. Three weeks later, we accepted an offer of 245k with no chain, which we accepted. Probably the valuation of 250k was on the lowside, as illustrated by the flurry of interest and several very quick offers.Call me a cynic, but I DO NOT think Goodmove's 'independent' valuation was independent. A valuation, based on nothing but a casual glance around and a few snaps at £70k below our true independent valuationof £250k is extremely suspicious to say the least.I would advise people to be very careful of this company. Yes, the reviews glow, but our experience sheds some light on this company. We were prepared to accept 80% of market value, but what happened smacked of trickery. Doubtless, someone will respond to this review with some trumped-up version of the truth. However, the facts speak for themselves.I did communicate with the company with regard to this review. They would have taken our £140k, had we accepted the value provided via them as genuine. I'm not sure what they mean by a low valuation not being in their interests. However, if they are to be given the benefit of the doubt, I would suggest they use local bona fida valuers, which are readily available for a small fee.
Goodmove, HuddersfieldThe amazing Katy! What a marvel! A massive thank you for the time spent on selling my house. Nothing was too much trouble and she went far beyond her role keeping me updated, sorting out any queries I raised and her customer service and professionalism was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble - a company treasure - also an extra thank you to Tony and Howard who were always so cheerful and to the photographer who took such lovely photos. I would have no hesitation in recommending Goodmove - thank you!C Tyroll
Katy was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. Always polite, efficient, friendly and had time to answer our queries. (One or two others in Goodmove were not quite 100% like Katy was). Her boss Georgia was helpful as well, especially at the start. Katy went the 'extra mile' for us, on more than one occasion.
