Our house move with Gordon Brown Law was one of the most stressful experiences of my life. Their service was consistently slow, uncommunicative, and left us in a precarious position.Progress on leasehold paperwork was incredibly sluggish, despite our continuous efforts to chase for updates and resolve issues. Phone updates were minimal, with staff often unfamiliar with our specific case.Crucial documents, like the fire safety report, were pursued extremely late; the freeholder wasn't contacted until weeks before completion, forcing us to contact the council directly. Furthermore, despite knowing it was leasehold, they suddenly required a different solicitor for the lease transfer, causing further delays.Consequently, we exchanged contracts just two days before completion, the day our mortgage expired - an entirely avoidable and anxiety provoking situation. Our conveyancer has since left, perhaps reflecting internal issues. A subsequent lease extension with a different solicitor was painless, which highlighted how incompetent Gordon Brown law were.Based on our experience, I strongly advise against using Gordon Brown Law for conveyancing, especially for leasehold properties. We would not touch them with a barge pole again.
