I placed an order for a Christmas gift on December 6, expecting delivery by December 26. Although it felt like a long wait, I hoped it would arrive soon. Now it's December 27, and there's no sign of the book—only vague tracking information indicating it's in transit. The company is denying an automatic refund, suggesting I misunderstood the delivery date. Luckily, I had ordered a backup gift from another platform that arrived within 24 hours.
I ordered a Christmas gift on December 6, expecting delivery by December 26. It seemed like a long wait, but I thought it might still arrive soon. Now it's December 27, and there's no sign of the book, just some vague tracking info saying it's in transit. The company is refusing an automatic refund, claiming I misunderstood the delivery date. Thankfully, I had ordered a backup gift from another platform that arrived in 24 hours.
I was sent the wrong book and it took a long time to get a reply when I followed up. It’s been a week since I returned the wrong book, and I still haven't received any response to my emails requesting a refund. I strongly advise against using this company.
The company used a well-known shipping service, which I prefer to avoid. Additionally, their data protection practices seem very poor. I ordered a book, and my son, who lives separately, received a text about the delivery, as did I on a number I didn’t provide. Given that my order was a one-time request and two of the phone numbers used weren’t mine, it's clear they must be accessing data from elsewhere.
The book I ordered did arrive and seems fine. However, the seller used a shipping service that I had issues with. It was raining, and I stayed home to receive the package, only to get a text saying it was left by my bins in the garden. If the driver knocked, neither I nor my dog heard it. I’m very frustrated after wasting my day waiting. Sellers should be accountable for their shipping choices—avoid this seller and their shipping method if possible.
I received a book that had 50 pages missing but also included 50 duplicates of the prior pages. My complaints have only received automated responses about a 90-day limit for exchanges or refunds, which seems to be managed by AI. So, not only did I waste my money, but I also struggled to get a human response. It seems like buyers from the other platform should count the pages upon receipt.
"1 Star" is the minimum I can give, but it's more than I truly feel! The book arrived in poor condition. It was packed in a flimsy plastic bag and forced through the letterbox. I received no response regarding my complaint. They operate through a different platform, which was responsive and apologetic, but they also reported difficulties getting a reply from this company. I regret not checking reviews before ordering; given the numerous complaints, I will avoid this seller in the future.
It's ironic that this company is called GreatBookPrices when a book I wanted was priced at £38 new and £40 used but unread, while I found it for £31 elsewhere. If you're going to claim to have great prices, you should actually deliver on that promise. I certainly didn't expect to see a 'used but unread' book priced higher than a new one from the same seller. It’s always worth checking prices, as many sellers are not competitive with new book prices.
