I was issued a €200 Austrian vignette fine because the sticker was not physically attached to the windscreen (it was visible on the dashboard). Fine—frustrating, but accepted.
What followed is where this company shows its true colours.
Green Motion added a CHF 65 “administration fee” plus tax, pushing the total close to £100 more than the original fine. This was not for anything meaningful—just processing paperwork they chose to handle themselves. There was no attempt to be reasonable, no discretion, and no acknowledgment that clearer instructions at pickup could easily have prevented the issue.
Even more questionable, the fine was converted and charged in CHF rather than euros, increasing the cost further. It’s hard not to see this as opportunistic.
When challenged, the response was a wall of polite but completely inflexible emails hiding behind “policy.” No ownership, no accountability, no customer care—just a process designed to extract additional money.
This wasn’t a serious driving offence. It was a minor technical mistake, and Green Motion used it as an opportunity to maximise revenue.
That tells you everything about how they operate.
If something goes wrong during your rental—even something small—expect to pay well over the odds and get no support whatsoever.
There are plenty of other rental companies. I’d strongly suggest using one of them.
SCAM!! DO NOT RENT HERE. We received a bill a few days after returning the car for nearly 2.000 CHF for an extremely small scratch that supposedly happened during our rental period. We were tricked by the number of positive Google reviews, which are clearly fake - do not make the same mistake. This service is a scam and if you read the low reviews you will see that there is a clear pattern of claiming minor damages and charging disproportionately high fees for repairs that were not even made. This happened to myself as well as my friend during the same period. Avoid this rental service!! They are unethical and will try to scam you.

Stay away I rented a vehicle from Green Motion Zurich Airport and unfortunately had a very concerning experience.When I returned the vehicle, no inspection was carried out in my presence. No damage was mentioned at the time of handover, and I was not asked to sign any document acknowledging any issues. I left under the clear impression that everything was in order.Two days later, I received a notification claiming damage to the vehicle and a significant charge was applied to my credit card. At that point, the vehicle had already been out of my possession and could have been accessed or driven by others.Without a documented inspection at return, it is difficult to understand how liability can be assigned with certainty. The amount charged also appears excessive relative to the alleged damage.

FRAUD ALERT: Do not rent from here!I was scammed by Green Motion Zurich for 1,617.43 CHF. They charged my card days after the rental for a "scratch" less than 2cm that I did not cause.I have high-definition video evidence recorded at the exact moment I returned the car in their garage, proving the vehicle was spotless and undamaged. I have sent this proof to them and tried to resolve this multiple times, but they completely ignore my emails and refuse to reply. They simply take your money and stop communicating.DO NOT RENT HERE. It is worth paying a little more for a reputable company at the airport to avoid being hit with a 1,600+ CHF fraudulent bill. Check the other reviews—this is a systemic scam.
Awful experience. We’ve returned the car with no damages, but no one asked us to sign the return and 24h later we received a picture with fake damages and a claim of 1600 CHF. We don’t have proof as we didn’t take pictures, but we found dozens of complaints similar to ours. We have already reported to Swiss Authorities and we hope we can recover our money.
It's awful! They charged me over 1600 euros for a scratch I didn't cause on the car. I've already contacted my lawyers and I'm going to report this company. And if you want advice, don't rent from them. They'll try to extort you for small scratches that were already on the car, as was my case (I'll show the photos below). They also charged 555 euros to my card without any explanation. Be careful, because many companies buy positive reviews. I'm still waiting for an email from the company regarding my refund…
My experience with Green Motion Zurich was extremely disappointing. We picked up the car with a full tank and returned it with a full tank. We had clear photos taken at pick-up , showing the exact fuel level — everything documented properly.Despite this, the company completely ignored all the photos and evidence we provided. Even though the staff member told us in person that everything was fine when we returned the car, they still went ahead and charged us €77, claiming the tank “wasn’t full.”In my opinion, this behavior feels careless, unprofessional, and very unfair toward customers.After this experience, I will never rent from Green Motion again.My personal advice: avoid Green Motion — Based on my experience, I strongly warn anyone thinking about renting from Green Motion to stay far away. The way they treated us — ignoring clear evidence, dismissing our photos, and still taking money — made me feel like customer fairness means nothing to them. In my personal opinion, their practices feel unreliable, disrespectful, and absolutely not worth the risk.
Do not use Green Motion Zurich for car rental. It is a dishonest car rental company that charges excessively for any very minor cosmetic damage (over 1,300 Swiss francs for a tiny scratch approx one inch long). Unprofessional service, no joint inspection at the time of pickup or drop-off of the car to agree on any pre-existing and new alleged damage. Lack of transparency and fairness and unfortunately only after the rental have we read numerous negative reviews of customers with a similar experience.
