I am a small business owner and use Guideline to administer our 401K plan. The user interface is very convenient and integrated with our payroll system, which is why we opted to use Guideline. However, today we received a notice of penalty from the IRS because Guideline failed to file our 8955-SSA form on time (it was several months late) and also failed to file an extension when they were unable to get this form filed on time. Very disappointed that Guideline did not even notify us of this issue or proactively address it with the IRS when they knew these forms were filed several months late. This is a core part of their job.

I was uncertain about how to properly list a non-employee co-owner in my company roster and faced some technical challenges. I expected the process to be complicated, but the guideline representative assisted me with troubleshooting, and we resolved the issue in just a few minutes.
Extremely disappointing services. They have consistently made errors, turning what should have been a straightforward process into a stressful and prolonged experience. After leaving my previous company, I needed to transfer my retirement plan. Initially, I called to inquire about some account details, and I received incorrect information. I only discovered this mistake when the new company's institution flagged it while verifying for me. When they sent the check, my information was missing, preventing the new institution from linking it to my account. I had to reach out to the company again to request a reissue of the check. They assured me they would inform me once the new check was sent out so I could submit another rollover form before it expired. Unfortunately, they never followed up, and I missed the deadline because the check arrived first. I’m not sure what kind of training their team undergoes, but it's clear they lack the necessary knowledge.
No one is a fan of calling a customer service representative for assistance these days. Although Guideline makes it very easy to find information on the website or email, sometimes you have an urgent need. To be honest I didn’t wait that long on hold and the representative was friendly and knowledgeable and solved my issue immediately. it’s wonderful to talk to a real life human being when you have the opportunity.
I was on hold for 20 minutes which was excessive BUT the rep that answered was professional, well spoken, took care of my request above and beyond. Walked me through where to find what I needed online and uploaded my requested documents for me to download in less than a half hour from the time of my request. Yes, I was on hold for a long time but I don’t mind to hold when I receive that quality of service.
Guideline helped me establish a 401K through my Company and made the process easy and smooth. I am not very knowledgeable and they took the time to educate me on the best investment for retirement that would meet the needs of my business.
